Said same onside play got taking away from them last year in a game when refs ruled opposing team didn't have a chance to make the catch.

Not questioning him really would like to compare. see if he has a gripe about one or the other kicks then

Clemson player should've called for a fair catch

They had no one over there to catch it so it would not have mattered.

Clemson player was nowhere close to the ball. Might have had a case if anyone in orange had made a play for it.

He's wrong because the South Carolina player called a fair catch in that play last year so it's different.

The kick didn't hit the ground, so it would have been kick catch interference had Clemson had someone in position to catch the ball.

I think that is the argument.

Did the ball hit the ground when initially kicked?

Odd complaint. Nobody made a fair catch, and there was nobody in the area to make a fair catch.

I wasn't sure whether the ball bounced from the ground into the air or if it just was a kick straight in the air to that spot? If it was a kick in the air would a fair catch signal have stopped the ball from being live?

thats why onside kicks are tipped on the ground no fair catch can be called when its on the ground.

When the ball is in the air like that, the clemson player should be able to fair catch it.

If he would have put a hand up then he wouldnt have been given the opportunity.

unless the ball hits the ground clemson should have been able to have gotten the ball from what im reading.

? was that play leagal

He would have been given a fair chance to catch the ball.

That had nothing to do with it.

Bama caught them completely off guard. It was a great call ... because it worked. It could have easily backfired.

No, but that doesn't matter since nobody called for a fair catch.

No.

And they just showed - two Clemson players were right there beside Humph.

I don't think so. It was a beautiful kick. I wonder how often they practiced that one. It was Griffith who did it, right? I honestly don't recall because I was too busy marveling at how well they pulled it off.

Correct. It bounced in the air and a fair catch was not in play after that point. And it didn't really matter because no on eon the Clemson team actually CALLED for a fair catch anyway.
