Exactly. His teammate was already on 3rd, so if he goes back, he's still out. He lowered the shoulder pretty good. I will say that he seemed remorseful as soon as he did it. It would definitely help Vandy if he's gone tomorrow, but I think that was just a rush of blood to his head, not an attempt to really injure TC.

Up by 4, 9th inning, and there's a runner on third. No need for that. Throw his arse out.

Instead they get a nice little slap on the wrist.

They called it runner interference. Beyond that, I have no clue.

Honestly? Because we're used to be defeatist. It's a hard habit to break. Also just does not have the feel of a game we're poised for a big inning. That hit COULD change things, but tomorrow seems pretty likely.

I'd like to think so but we've been sleep walking at the plate since the 5th.

Think of it this way, since the runner did not advance from 3rd (score) he still occupies 3rd, so the other runners can't advance when he commits interference.

I gotta hand it to the Vandy teammates. That might have been a brawl with some other teams.

What in the hell are the rules for that? Papi's arse should have been thrown out

found the rule. you're exactly right.

If, in a run down between third base and home plate, the succeeding runner has advanced and is standing on third base when the runner in a run down is called out for offensive interference, the umpire shall send the runner standing on third base back to second base. This same principle applies if there is a run down between second and third base and succeeding runner has reached second (the reasoning is that no runner shall advance on an interference play and a runner is considered to occupy a base until he legally has reached the next succeeding base).
