Strike 2 was definitely a ball, but the ump likely didn't want to send a team home on a ball 4 call.
Ball 3 was the same pitch as strike 1 on the corner. He was terrible both ways.

Seriously how does the umpire call that 3-1 pitch a strike? I mean it MAY have been only 6 inches outside.
well he had been calling it all game, thats whats awful about it

SO much talent on the 2011 and 2012 Florida teams. ZERO to show for it.

Outplayed us. Great game by KSU.
UF chokes again in baseball, shocker.
That last at bat is pretty much why I don't follow CBB thoroughly. College umpires are way too lenient on the hitters. That's about the 10th time I've seen a fastball that's 6 inches off the black, called a strike in the CWS.

9th inning recap.
Kent State literally CAN NOT throw a strike. Loads the bases with walks. Only 1 out.
Ump starts to feel bad and gives a couple courtesy strike calls. Finally says "sorry, I have to call ball 4", BUT it just happened to be on a pitch the Florida player check swinged at.
He barely offered but his bat just kinda kept drifting. Appeal to 3rd base and he went.
Next player flies out on the first pitch. Game over #1 seed Florida elimated.

O'Sullivan has managed to squander more talent these past two seasons. LOL at anyone who thinks the guy is a great coach.

Another choke job. Past 2 years at CWS. Past 2 years in Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament.

Payback for the "strike" that won us the game against NC St I guess.

No I'd say it's payback for the dozen strikes called balls this entire game. Ump was just terrible but what goes around comes around.

Congrats on a good year Gators. Frustrating but that's just baseball.

I wanted florida to win, but it would have been shitty to win on kent state not being able to throw a strike.
I thought for sure florida was gonna clean their plow this evening.

In some ways the inability to throw a strike helped Kent State.
Florida was ready to rake but only one guy got to even hit the ball.
Out 1 - bunt
Out 2 - called strike 3 on appeal
Out 3 - fly out
The numbers 2-5 hitters didn't even get to swing once.

Fixed it for you. He swung, it was the right call.
