It's not so much the byes, it's the seeding that results in who gets them.

Yeah, the team with the bye has the advantage.

Could it be that maybe the results have something to do with the fact the committee doesn't take SoS into account in how they rank teams and thus teams are likely getting ranked higher than they should be? Highlighted by the fact that outside last nights game, the favorite to win the game has won them?

Nah, it's gotta be that playing a really tough team the week before your game is an advantage right?

I disagree.

OSU was ahead of Miami in every computer ranking taking SOS into account. But OSU was off for 25 days while Miami was off for 11 since their last game.

If we were talking about 1 week vs 2 weeks, you'd be 100% right. But that isn't what having a bye means in the cfb playoff.

Having a bye means you will be playing again after a 26 day break... 4 weeks. Your opponent will only have an 11 day break... a week and a half.

I'd have no issue if the playoffs started a week after conference championships and games were played each week. I'd ABSOLUTELY want a bye then. But if you tell me I'll have a month long break while my opponent would have played 10 days before... I'd have to think about it. I'd definitely take Ole Miss and Oregon's path (playing JMU or Tulane) over a month long wait. Maybe not Miami/A&M or Bama/OU's draw.

So you’re saying Ole Miss has a chance?

IMO - the 1st Domino fell in OM’s favor to make a run, when Ohio State Lost. Ole Miss should beat GA & MIA, losing in the CFP.

The teams with BYEs have been underdogs in 5 of the 6 quarterfinal games.

Arizona State, Texas Tech, Boise State, Georgia (without starting QB Beck), and Oregon (against a loaded Ohio State)

SoS doesn't mean you are a good or bad team, it means you haven't been measured as well as others. You can have a terrible SoS and still be the best team in the country. But most common is teams get over-ranked due to having a bad SoS.

The bulk of the Ohio St strength in their schedule comes from playing Indiana, and they lost that game. Before that game, the Ohio St schedule was down in the 50s.

I don't really care when they play the games, but teams aren't losing games because they got a bye week. That's dumb.

The bye only hurts teams that rely on emotion.

Every team relies on emotion to some degree. That would be the X factor that differentiates college from the NFL.

Hey look everyone, yet again, the team that played most recently looks more polished than the one that did not.

Yet another excuse.
these teams are 0-6, this has jack shite to do with you Gump

Yall will be the ones to blow it anyway, after INDIANA finishes with you they’ll be 1-6 but CFP still needs changes and to be pushed up a couple weeks

You have no idea what you’re talking about and you obviously have never been described as having “it”.
