Why? Because you are looking at them beating Alabama..a win you think is good because of who Bama has been in seasons other than 2023.

Michigan doesn't step on the field with a decent team until mid-November.

You are rewarding that behavior?

Their conference has sucked for 10 critical years and USC / UCLA got sick of subsidizing what are arguably some of the lowest revenue P5 schools…similar to FSU and Clemson complaints

Getting rid of the free riders was inevitable

So, you think Texas should not be ranked in the top 10? Because, based on performance they look like a top ten team.

Don’t lash out because people like me might think someone other than Georgia deserves the mythical #1 tag at this point.

USC and UCLA have won a combined 1 Pac12 title in the last 10 years. Maybe they should look in the mirror.

So why should Texas be top 5?

You play the games you have on the schedule, yes they’ve looked like garbage against garbage teams before yesterday. And yes they beat a Baylor team that lost to Texas State

BUT they went on the road and beat Bama and even if Bama wasn’t firing on all cylinders it IS a significant win. Oklahoma is really the only good opponent left on their schedule and if they beat Oklahoma, they will be in the playoffs regardless of their garbage schedule

You can’t be serious? Texas beat Alabama at Bama. Georgia hasn’t left Athens yet and has played complete trash. Georgia being #1 is a product of last year and has nothing to do with this years team.

What you mean is based on them beating Bama, a team who struggled with USF.

Every teams ranking, at this point, is based partially on perceptions from past years.

Rank em however you want. But no one’s rankings, at this point, aren’t based (atleast partially)on something other than this year. Because there have only been 4 games.

Based purely on 2023, why is that impressive? They also struggled with Wyoming…do we not consider that?

Seems about right to me. Except Florida State and Ohio State maybe.

UNTIL Bama loses a second time, and they might not, the Bama win has to count significantly towards evaluating the UTrans team

Whoa whoa whoa they still have to play Kansas. And we know that's significant based on recent history.

Well shite, if recent history is all we need to rely on, Texas has this in the bag. Considering Texas beat Kansas 55-14 last year.
