For arguments sake, I'll include Hugh Freeze since Luke hasn't coached against the west yet.
Saban: 57-17 (77.02%)
Malzahn: 13-11 (54.17%)
Freeze: 14-16 (46.67%)
Sumlin: 14-16 (46.67%)
Mullen: 15-30 (33.3%)
Bielema: 7-17 (29.17%)
Orgeron: 5-16 (23.81%)
Edit: Orgeron and Saban corrected

Those numbers can't reflect Saban's time at LSU too. In ten years at Alabama, he has played 54 games against the West since 2007. Another 25 while at LSU.
Looks like it might not reflect the rematch against LSU in 2011 either.

Bert is easily the worst coach in the West. Probably the whole SEC. Bert needs to go back to the B1G.

Updated to reflect Saban's LSU record. I didn't count the vacated wins

I think it's 56, including the LSU rematch in 11.
07-11 (5 west opponents x 5 years) = 25
12-16 (6 west opponents x 5 years) = 30
LSU rematch = 1
56 total
46-10 (.821) overall against west teams while at Alabama. 3 of those losses came the first year.
18-7 (.720) against west teams while at LSU.
Total of 64-17 (.790) against west teams combining LSU/Alabama tenures.

I see what you're getting at here, but the truth is, no coach should be held accountable for sucking at either Ole Miss or Miss State -- to say both programs are hamstrung and at a perpetual disadvantage compared to the rest is a massive understatement. In other words, those programs make even the best coaches look pedestrian. But, grind on...

Then explain how Freeze is tied for the 3rd best record?
And you can't say it's because he cheated because Freeze learned from O at Ole Miss

Rematch isn't a conference game so I didn't count it but fair point

You'd generally consider SEC West games as "big" games. Freeze's strength is as a motivator (his other is being a cheater but we'll throw that out for this discussion at your request). He does a good job of getting players up for stronger opponents. He also wasn't a very good X's and O's guy, which explains why he was always good for losing some games he shouldn't have every year.

So what's Mullen's excuse?

Of course you can, he cheated and it got better players to sign at Ole Miss than would have otherwise, so yes, you can and should count that cheating. Furthermore, not sure what actual proof you have that CEO had any shady dealings at OM or with Freeze, otherwise it seems like you're blowing a lot of hot air.

Orgeron hired Freeze as his recruiting coordinator at Ole Miss and signed a top 15 class despite winning 3 games.

Thanks for drawing the connection. HOWEVER, that hardly implicates Orgeron in any wrongdoing or depending on cheating to get top recruits while he was the head coach. He's regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country; no one doubts that.

They really shouldn't be, though. They have plenty of homegrown talent. Not as much as Louisiana, granted, but probably not far off from Alabama. The educational problems at the grade school level -- which hurts qualifying -- has some impact, but they still put plenty of talent in the college ranks. OM and MSU don't need special treatment, they need to build that wall around the state.
