Nobody refers to our stadium as The Brice.

You're obviously too young to remember the 1990s when everyone started calling it that after Carolina joined the SEC. I just Googled "the brice" as well as gamecocks and got 55,500 results. However, its seems like public opinion may be swinging back towards "The Cockpit" though, which is definitely a more original name.

Nah but Tubs definitely pushed for calling JHS "The Jungle" and I think it even made it onto a couple years of NCAA Football.

But it was lame, never caught on, and didn't last long.

It had already faded by the time you enrolled in 07.

Who calls it "Home of the rock M"?

If there is any nickname it is known by it is "The Zou"

Initials are not a "nickname".

Alabama is simply above such silly nomenclatures.

Congrats, Tuberville tried in 2001. I am a fan of Auburn because I attended Auburn, I was not a fan before.

Still, no one has ever called it the Jungle. In fact, all I can find online is a news article about Tubs wanting it titled "Jungle not welcome or needed at Auburn".

Killer nickname

^^^^The best name^^^^ with Death valley next

I do like "The Cockpit" for USC, wish that would become more well known/used again. "The zou" is also unique.

Bryant-Denny is perfect for Alabama.

It recognizes the best coach ever and the first school president that recognized the tremendous galvanizing effect CFB could have for a school and he demanded that Alabama would lead the way for the SEC.

The rest is history.

Ok I get it. In the 100 plus years of Auburn football, one coach tries a corny nickname one year that doesn't stick and we are forever known by it. Great logic there.

The Home of the Rock M? I've never met a single fan who called it that.

Most fans call it The Zou, though I still prefer Faurot Field.

And for future reference, our basketball team plays in The Dutch Oven.

Well it would help if the Athletic Dept didn't keep enforcing it.

we don't like to think about the 90s when it comes to Gamecock football.

Nah it was more along the lines of 01-05 or 06. You don't have to get so mad, it happened but not many people said it then and nobody says it now. But it was something that was in media guides, intro videos, mentioned on CFB Live, NCAA football video games.

For the record I don't think it was necessarily a bad nickname, it just felt forced and people didn't like that because you can't force tradition.

That's not our stadiums nickname.

It's "The ZOU". It says it in giant letters on both sides.

That a way to overreact. I was just replying to the posts saying it was never called that, when it clearly was for just a few years.

Neither have I .... OP is full of shite.

I've heard it called the "Willy B" and the"Billy Brice" but never once heard it referred to simply as the Brice.

And we actually "officially" referred to it as "The Cock Pit" until PETA and animal rights activists forced Mike McGee to declared that "non-sanctioned" by the university in 2003 while Holtz was still here.

Which further proves the OP is full of shite.

Most fans, with the exception of the most politically correct ones not only from our school but from others .... still, and always will, refer to it as The Cock Pit.

Mainly because nobody actually calls it that... clearly something the OP made up, as I assumed he did for most of those nicknames.

FYI to OP: People still call it The Cockpit. We had "Welcome to The Cockpit" t-shirts in the student section like 5 years ago..
