Yea I think Fields will be fine. Sore probably, definitely if he gets hit a few times, but unless there is something there that we don't know about he'll get numbed up and be good to go for the most part.

Ohio State will be fine . We played Clemson with a few of our starters out due to covid and whatnot .We will fudge some numbers and get those guys back in the fold . We are 3 deep everywhere , so I agree . NO excuses .

Agreements are made with explicit language but came be based on assumed, implied underlying facts. Saying "I'm staying through the national championship game" clearly implied "I'm staying through the national championship game on January 11th."

While somewhat true, there's also language in most agreements, especially now after what we've been through with COVID this year, like force majeure clauses for events such as this.

No, I don't think so, but I do think that it's very possible he has to reassess everything about it. He has a very limited window to set up his entire infrastructure before recruiting is full on and he tries to fill out a class, not to mention all the other stuff that goes along with taking over a massive power 5 football job and one he definitely wants to get right under a huge microscope.

I don't dispute that, but nothing about the last 12 months has been normal and nothing will be for some time. One blessing he'll have is the early signing period resulted in Texas already having 17 guys sign LOIs and 2 more guys signed as transfers. He shouldn't have a ton of recruiting left to do before NSD. Obviously none of this is ideal, but this year has been nothing but a logistical nightmare for everyone.

Like most people, I think, unless there is a really big issue I think they should play the game. But, if Ohio State is without an entire position group, then it is what it is and we move it back.

I'd imagine that both Alabama and Ohio State feel the same way.

I think it's pretty clear why many Alabama fans don't want the game to be played. They don't want Fields to have any more time to heal because they don't want him at full strength. Postponing the game a week or whatever shouldn't matter otherwise. Sark is still going to coach. He said he will coach through the national title game. He didn't say he's done on a specific date

frick off....Bama played the Iron Bowl without our head coach

Remember this article from way back in November?

quote:

The plan calls for a national champion to be crowned Jan. 11 “unless the coronavirus pandemic forces a schedule change,” [executive director of CFP, Bill] Hancock told ESPN.

“During a thorough and robust conversation, the CFP management committee today agreed not to place a replacement team in the playoff should a school not be able to field a team because of COVID after Selection Day,” Hancock told ESPN. They also decided that each team will use its conference’s COVID-19 testing protocol in connection with the CFP games.

The management committee also made clear that the CFP games will be played on the scheduled dates,” he said. “They reserve the right to discuss this again if circumstances change, but our planning is centered on holding the games on their scheduled dates.”

You call that luck? What your team got last year was luck. This was a thorough arse-kicking.

Now Clemson is a team that's living off of past laurels.

42-25
49-28

0-6 in bowls.

Oof.

This seasons Ohio State team has been the most pampered program in the history of sports. They have used and played the COVID card to their strategic advantage all year. It’s kind of pathetic. Shut the frick up and take your beating.

Sounds like Bama is scared for Fields to be healthy.

Why does it matter? Already skeptical that Ohio State is 7-0. Without Fields, I don’t think anyone would even count this as a game. The committee would be a total fail if Ohio State reps without Fields.

9-3-1 including 6 in a row.

Also, last time we played Oklahoma in a game that mattered, we won a national championship.

Dude Ohio hasn't had a Miss America since women started shaving their legs...and the same woman won 1922/1923 titles.

I think the Ags were kept out of the playoff just so Ohio State would not have to play Bama in the first round.

Everyone knows this BS is just to give fields more time to recover.

Nope, screw you. You could have played Bama last week with a healthy Fields but the CFP chair did all he could to keep two SEC teams out and an easier 1st round match up for you. Your team has had compensations all year. Less games, less wear and tear. Time to take your beating like a man if you can.
