but this is clearly not a serious thread,

Amazing that only two or three of y'all picked up on that.

Or probably not. This place doesn't recognize sarcasm well.

A NFL caliber team doesn’t go into halftime tied with Citadel.

Bama is hot garbage

An NFL team has never led the Citadel at halftime.

They used to match the NFL champion against the college all stars from 1934-1976. The champions won 31, the college all-stars won 9, and there were two ties. Even Vince Lombardi's 1963 NFL Packer team LOST to the College All-Stars 20-17!

This is probably the dumbest question ever if you are being serious.

Bama couldn't stop Ingram. Though they could stop Kamara, seeing as they have Butch, the only man ever to shut Kamara down completely, on the staff.

Nobody's beating the Saints for the rest of the way (barring Brees getting hurt). Nobody's beating Bama either.

This Bama team couldn’t even beat an NFL practice squad.

nfl practice squads are only 10 people total. we would frick any one of them up, incredibly

it would be about 140-7. i'm allowing for a saints DB to trip or for a forced fumble to be returned for a TD

little bit different game now.

that greenbay team didn't have a single player above 260 lbs. the very average 2018 LSU team would curbstomp the 63 packers

Totally different era. What was the average size, strength of a typical lineman even as late as 1974 as compared to today?

1963 packers.. zero players above 260 lbs..

good college programs today.. have ~25-30 players above 260 lbs

No way Saints beat Bama.

Now if the Saints could meet Bama's payroll perhaps but Saints need to show that they have just as deep pockets as Bama.

Im not sure that they would. The Saints’ front 7 would destroy Bama’s o-line.

I think he was saying, the Saints would score..

The title is questioned could the Saints beat Bama, not vice versa.

Unless I have the discussion wrong. Clearly a sarcastic thread, but it seems like people are answering it the other way around?

It was a totally different era but it applied to both the colleges and the pros at the time just like it would apply in today's game. The pros took this game lightly I am sure and the college kids were always fired up but it is an actual example of the level of competitiveness between the two. These games actually occurred and we can make judgements based upon their results.
