Yes, that's the story. The excuse I've heard is because of fried food. Now, think about that Rebel...people from Mississippi and Alabama saying we have too much fried food. I repeat, people from MISSISSIPPI and ALABAMA saying we have too much fried food. FWIW, since we have our own cuisine, I'd say we have less fried food than, again, people from Mississippi and Alabama.

Personally, I embrace the corndog name simply because it's so stupid.

It's just a joke the dumbass barners stole from the big 12. It doesn't even make any sense, but whatever. If that's the best Aubie can come up with, I'm fine with it. We've been beatin their asses on the football field for 3 years running, they can call me a corndog anyday.

The worst part is the d-bag LSU haters here in Lafayette are just startin to catch on to it.

I'm glad you don't care enough about it to make a thread about it.

Living in Arkansas the majority of my life, I catch a lot of ribbing about corndogs from Hog fans, especially this week. I had one guy that just would not stop with the corndog thing. Every time he would see me he would loudly ask does anyone smell corndogs? About a month ago he did this at a High School football game and I replied no but the smell of pig shite with nut sprinkled on top (this was after the Ole Piss game) is so thick in the air around here you could cut it with a knife. He didn't seem to like that too well.

Actually, I think it was around 2000 maybe 2001 when a poster on Auburn's wayne board posted "Why do LSU fans smell like corndogs?" I remember when it first started making the rounds. But the Aubie poster actually stole it from a Missouri Tiger fan posting about the Cornhuskers. Ironically, the poster LSU cornbread posted the story about it coming from the Missouri fan site from a reporter out of Natchitoches a few years back. Many LSU fans think it was from Oklahoma fans about Nebraska.

I do think it's amazing how one internet post has snowballed into this.

This is true. But just about everybody in the SEC west is unified in the corndog thing. So get used to it. Embrace it. It's not going away.

Corndog jokes are great because they try to act like they don't care. Two years ago we erected a giant corn dog along with a sign "free corn dogs for coonasses" at our tailgate and I cannot tell you the amount of LSU fans who stopped by furious over the sign....
