Last year's team early in the season with Tyler Smith, Chism, Prince, Maze, and Hopson was not pressing at all.
That is definitely false. They forced 34 and 35 turnovers respectively in 2 games early that year. You don't do that by just playing half court defense. Go back and read the recaps of the games before the suspensions.

Either way, the team was better post suspensions.

Listen, I realize Pearl has done well. But you and other Vols fans need to realize he has faults, too. He has been valuable, but not irreplaceable.
Tennessee has great facilities and is obviously willing to pay elite money. If UT hired someone like Gregg Marshall, which would certainly be a possibility, then the Vols would be much better off, as Marshall is probably a better coach and the NCAA punishments would be less. Let's not pretend our options are Bruce Pearl or Buzz Peterson.

Calipari and Donovan are much more high profile than Grant. Bama is playing great basketball right now, but hell we are not even a top 25 team. Right now we are the Boise St of basketball. A scrappy group of overachievers playing a weak arse schedule.

They are overachieving but I think this team could be really good next year if Green stays. He could improve his draft stock big time if adds some more size in the offseason and has a big senior year. Grant's suspension of Green is what really turned this team around. I expect Releford to improve from year 1 to 2. If they get improved scoring from 3 point range with the recruits they have coming in this team will be tough to beat. This team/program is on the rise and it is time to stop taking a back seat to other programs when it comes to in state talent. These kids have a reason to stay home and play now.

I want Grant more than Billy. What has Billy done lately when he hasn't had 4 NBA starters on his team?
He has won more than 20 games for 13 straight seasons. He has rebuilt the team through recruiting after losing the TOP 6 players of the 2007 team. 6. And now has this team to get a 3/4 seed with a 21-5 record.

Oh no doubt. Next year's team will be very solid assuming no one does anything stupid like thinking they are ready for the pro's. Releford/Mitchell/Green is a very lethal trio. We desperately need a 3 shooter at guard though.

Yep, but there's two on the way, and possibly a third, if Lacey picks Bama.

Grant may well be the most sought after but Pearl, Stallings, Donovan and Calipari have accomplished more, so far. Grant seems to be the real deal but the mark of success will be that he can recruit and maintain Bama as a top 20 program over a few years like, say, Wimp did. If he can do that then he'll have the big time suitors.
It seems that Alabama has made a commitment financially to getting the basketball program at least back to where it was in the 70s through the mid 90s. So, unless he's unhappy in Tuscaloosa I can't see any reason to not stay at Bama over all but the top 10 or so college jobs which seldom come open without an obvious heir in place.
