I'll give the Mildcats a pass this year, but a couple more embarrassingly-abhorrent seasons like this one and we need to start discussing replacing you with the Hilltoppers as the SEC's Kentucky member.

State. Thank you for giving that grease ball some hope before dashing UKs dreams. Way to go!

By that logic, shouldn't we have replaced Tennessee by now?

You nailed it early, and you and I were both right. You to congratulate state, and me for saying I wish we would have lost by 20, would have been easier to swallow.

This game was the season in a nutshell. Periods of abysmal play then it looks like the lights are coming on only to have hopes dashed by poor end of game execution.
There were excuses early in the season but by now those guys are all sophomores. The we are young stuff shouldn't apply in March. A long off-season to ponder what went wrong and how to fix it. Cal has some soul searching to do. It should have never come down to having to win the SEC tournament to get in the NCAA. This team didn't get better over the course of the season and that is squarely on Cal.
Congrats to MSU. You were savage the first half and did enough to win at the end.

I just can't agree on this one. Did he play a part? Sure. But IMO you can't discount EJ Montgomery not coming back (I firmly believe Cal wanted him to), your only returner not playing half the season (Brooks), and the shortened season and COVID-19 restrictions.
If it was only Cal struggling with this, I'd agree. But Duke isn't making the tournament either. Michigan State is barely hanging on with Izzo. And UNC hasn't looked very good either.

And we will replace you with Memphis in football.

What, the Tennessee program that has fewer sub-.400 seasons all-time than Kentucky? All of those losses are getting to your head!

And that's won you how many championships again?
