Recently (and that’s all that matters) Texas sucks. If your 38 appearances mattered you’d be keeping your coach and recruits and coaches would be beating down your door because of the amazing record.
It is an amazing record.
But it’s HISTORY. As in over. As in past. As in no longer effecting the present.
As a fan you should be proud. I’m not trying to take anything away from that.
But coaches and players don’t come to your school because of the past. They come because they believe in the future.
And your conference mates look very formidable relative to where Longhorn baseball is.
It’s a total rebuild.
It is an amazing record.

This is true. You’ve got new blood coming to the winners circle. They aren’t leaving. The blue bloods won’t be leaving. And truthfully it’s a harder sell to get coaches to come to the SEC that are low hanging fruit. They want to stay in easier waters. You’re going to have to find the perfect timing. It’s harder than you think.

Then I would be very worried. Because there’s not many options that are significantly better than him that would come to Austin right now. The market just isn’t very good right now. This could end up being a Fred Acres kind of decision. I truly believe your best decision is to wait until a real coach is available. It’s not now.

Just because schloss and vitello would never come right now doesn't mean there are not options out there. Neither of us know who would be willing to come for the right offer. at the end of the day, I trust the athletic director to find the right guy. It may not be a flashy hire but it'll be the right fit. I'd be happy with an up and coming assistant like Max, to be honest. I don't care if it's a flashy hire. Just find a great coach.

That would be a brilliant move. And he would need to learn, but Max will be an excellent head coach in the long run. Huge loss for us.
And I don’t think Texas will do it, but if they are smart, that’s probably one of the best options available.
And he would probably go. The only thing is if he thinks he’s ready. He’s very young but you never know. You could likely get him on a reasonable contract and if things work out great. If things don’t hopefully the market is different.
But I don’t think y’all have the balls to do it. You should though. You definitely should.
