This is possible, but I think he's stupid for doing it. If he wanted a direct answer he should've asked her later (where no one else could hear her answer). Kinda like this: you don't nag your boss about a raise in front of the entire company. You ask him/her in private.

I can definitely understand that.

The REC gets credit/blame for every recruiting rumor involving Alabama. Truth is, if Bama boosters were going to pay for recruits &/or their families, it would have to be done outside of an organized scope of the REC. To insinuate that the REC does anything relating to recruiting is to out yourself as someone who knows nothing about the REC.

I'm sure it is hard for you to imagine given that you were likely a virgin until 30, but some people had sex at an early age & some didn't wear condoms. I bet half the Rant would admit to having unprotected sex when they were in the 16-17 year old range. Any of us could have been in the same position of having a kid.

You know nothing about Trent. I'm certain you've never met him or your wouldn't have laced your statement with sarcasm. He's a good kid. Tough background. Goes to class. Makes good grades. Is a good teammate. Hasn't been arrested (unlike others you are comparing him to). Hasn't been an issue in the classroom or on his team (unlike others you are comparing him to).

so in an open Q&A that is meant for discussion about things, he isnt supposed to ask a question

FWIW, They way I read the article, it seemed like Chiz started with general questions trying to get an understanding of when the process ended and wasn't getting a legitimate or specific answer so his questions got more specific about the Cam situation to try to get a straight answer. Ultimately, he got a pretty direct answer, but I don't think he has any better of an understanding on what the NCAAs process is.

I wonder what he thought of the answer?

So why did Chizik feel the need to act like Billy Badass in the meeting?
My answer is this. We don't have enough information into what he knows to come to a conclusion that it was wrong or right in what he did. What was his motivation?
In one way it looks to be wrong because did he just piss off the Enforcement Chief of the NCAA?,
Or does Chizik have confirmation about something being over and was wanting her to confirm it's over?
I am at the point I am just going to ride the wave of wait and see, till this is all resolved good or bad.

Roe Lach: The cases you mentioned were decided by our Student-Athlete Reinstatement department, which is actually housed in the Academic and Membership Affairs branch. That group decides all athlete eligibility issues. I work in the enforcement side and we investigate and deal with institutional responsibilities, boosters, coaches, administrators. I don’t go and talk to them. If issues come up that’s one thing. (The compliance offices) understand there are different processes in play. Those discussions, if they have questions, comments, support, or concerns, would be directed towards our Academic and Membership affairs group.
Bingo. The most important part though is the part she left out. The eligibility department only goes on info provided by the institutions, the infractions department investigates themselves and then sometimes reverses decisions made by the eligibility department.
She kind of painted a broad picture of the 2 entities without hitting on, what in my opinion is, the most important difference between the 2.

And STILL no PLOI after nine months plus of the most unprecedented scrutiny a university has seen from the NCAA, media, bloggers, etc.
Take their sweet time my arse. If they had enough for a PLOI you can bet your sweet arse M. Emmert would have walked that shite into AU himself by now.
Until a PLOI is issued I have to believe they got jack shite!
Auburn has denied repeated open records requests from media outlets. Bama opened our books to the media. Why won't Auburn?
Plus, even if there is no LOI, Roe told you herself...."We are not finished." You are being investigated and there is no way to deny that.

Can I get cliff notes in this thread and what Auburn posters are trying to shrug this off as if nothing is going to happen? (TTsTowel, blzr)

Keep eating that alpo & telling us how delicious the Filet there in Tuscaloosa is.
I know nothing about what went down with Fluker, or what's been going down in Mobile. I know nothing about that Charger Luther Davis got. I know nothing about that handicapped good samaritan that Julio Jones helped out of the goodness of his heart.
I don't know anything...

Again - why can't people make inferences on this site? Why don't we read?
I was using a hypothetical. There was no insinuation that Trent Richardson was bought.

Can you imagine how bad AU would blow up if this department said yea the other department said he was eligible, because he didn't know but we are going to say he was ineligible anyway because we have to cover up the loophole and save our arse. Holey Shite AU would implode

When you grow up and mature a little you will begin to understand that just because you are allowed to do something does not make it the best time to do something.
It would be like your professor (or in your case 9th grade civics teacher) finishing a lecture with "Ok any questions?" and then you saying "Yea I don't think I deserved an F on my last test."

I think the media caused the NCAA to act.
Things were getting out of hand.
Douchebags like Thayer Evans were starting to report on Cam's confidential academic record (which were refuted by Florida).
Imagine every news agency out there started reporting that Trent Richardson was bought. That he was a bad person. That he shouldn't be on the field.
We have to remember that we're dealing with young men. Even if they make mistakes, we can't treat them like objects.
If the reports affected Trent's play, that would not only mess up Trent's life but infuriate Alabama fans.
So you would want the NCAA to at least do something to quell the storm even though they were going to investigate the matter over the long term.
Just my two cents.
^^ Very sensible post. And likely this is exactly what happened.
Let's face it, I've never seen the the NCAA make multiple public comments about any case like they have with Cam.
The heat of the media put pressure on the NCAA to act on the issue, and they did.
