We have more in common with the SEC now than the Big 12 schools.

We're a top 2 baseball supporting school with a big arse stadium.

We're now a top 6 women's gymnastics school ( I think ranked 3rd).

We have a great football stadium and rabid fan support.

Big 12 is men's gymnastics, wrestling, some of the teams don't even play baseball, etc...

There really isn't a snowball's chance in hell of us going Big 12, ever. Especially if Texas left. The Texas rivalry is the only reason anybody would want to go Big 12, anyway.

I'm hoping the SEC would go after Texas & Texas A&M and move Bama to the East. This would give the SEC great media coverage throughout the south. I think Texas would prefer travel games in the SEC instead of the Big 10 or PAC 10. It's looking like the Big 12 Days are numbered in regards to Texas and Texas A&M. Arkansas and SC need to stay if they want to. There programs are slowly improving and it benefits everyone when they win.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put AU in the East than bama?

If the Great Shakeup happens with Texas moving out (which I view as just arrogant Texas posturing at this point), then the SEC should snap up OU and A&M. THAT would be tits.

I agree with with your statement but I see Texas football being so "incestuous" in nature that if Texas or another Big 12 team from Texas were to actually "secede" as Arkansas did from the SWC, there would be way too much political fallout and posturing within the state of Texas and their state legislature, just as there was when the SWC fell apart after Arkansas' leaving. Texas football more than likely will remain cohesive in regard to the four Big 12 schools from Texas. I could envision all four leaving before one or two doing so. IMO

Their splitting up would be very surprising to me.

It's all bout money from the largest TV markets. Texas is being courted by the Pac 10 and Big 10. It's gonna come down to what works best for Texas. They already make more money then any other College Football Program. With the new ESPN contract coming up in a couple of years all this posturing is driven by that.

ARK came FROM the SW conference TO the SEC.

They are not going back to their poor neighbors.

I hear the TEX to Big TEN chatter too, but it seems too far.
You cannot rationalize the expense of sending 12 other non-major sports teams to State Penn or Minn, from Austin.
There are 17 sports which make up the categories for which the AD's cup is made.

Just a random question.. if the SEC did have to seek out a new member? Would it have to be a unanimous decision? Could 1 school block the 11 other schools from inviting someone?

I'm not certain, but I belive only the charter members could vote on it. Meaning, Arkansas and South Carolina would have no voice in the matter.
