A major hypocrisy in considering playoffs is on one hand you have the committee saying they won’t punish a team for losing the conference championship and on the other you have them saying a 5 loss Duke could get in since they won the CC.

You cannot make one CC game matter and others not matter. Either they don’t matter win or lose or you have to take into consideration all results of all CC games

They just need to eliminate them all together.

You have to make it off of the regular season when it comes to who makes the cut, maybe you juggle teams around within who makes the cut, but you don’t eliminate teams based on conference championship game

Eliminate what exactly.... conference championships?

While I don't disagree, they need to figure out how replace the money from those games first.

Play-In games replace conference championship games.

If you had 4 SEC Autobids (like the Big 10 is suggesting), you could develop play-in games

Team 1. Regular Season SEC Champions Alabama
Team 2. SEC #2 Georgia vs. SEC #7 Vanderbilt
Team 3. SEC #3 Ole Miss vs. SEC #6 Texas
Team 4. SEC #4 Texas A&M vs. SEC #5 Oklahoma

These teams would be LOCKED in to the playoff...the only thing the committee would do (or maybe a BCS-type polls) is seed them

There is where the $$$ comes from...3 games instead of 1. The conference champ gets to sit home and rest

No, just get rid of automatic bids and the committee decide the playoffs before any CC games are played

That’s a very good idea.

That also separates the importance of a national ranking vs your conference standings and might encourage better OOC games late in the season.

The hypocrisy is that if losing a playoff game should not hurt a team, then all cc teams should have an automatic in with the CFP. I don't see anyone arguing that BYU and N Texas should be in.
