We really need to remove the media completely from the equation.
If you're not a blue blood the media will actively work against you.
I know most of ya'll feel that.
Why do you think the SEC has gotten shafted the past few years?
Because we were anchored to a network we were leaving and they weren't fighting for us on that front, they were working to set the Big 10 teams up for the future.

Here's the average of the 5 BCS computer rankings that are still doing 2024:

That's just 1 computer.
And the rankings aren't generally good either IMO.

Huh?
2023 - Michigan, blue blood
2022 - Georgia
2021 - Georgia
2020 - Alabama, blue blood
2019 - LSU
2018 - Clemson
2017 - Alabama, blue blood
2016 - Clemson
2015 - Alabama, blue blood
2014 - Ohio St, blue blood
So over the past 10 years it's been 50% NC by blue bloods and 50% by other teams. And most of the blue blood ones is just Alabama.

That doesn't look right, GoGators1995... Can you please specify which 5 computer models you averaged (and provide links)... For example, none of the computer models I've seen have Army or Wazzu anywhere near the Top 25.
With that said, the BCS computer rankings were notoriously inaccurate because they only allowed a team's win-loss record to be considered... points (margins of victory/loss) could NOT be factored in. The rationale was that the BCS didn't want to encourage teams to "run up the score" as it was deemed unsportsmanlike at the time.
Sagarin often criticized the BCS for this limitation.
Anyway, I'm interested in looking at the models you averaged. Please provide the links. Thank you.

As I mentioned in the reply above, I think those averages you posted are wrong...
Specifically, which 5 computer models did you average?...
Please provide links so I can double-check your math.

I find it hard to believe computers average Washington State at 25 when Sagarin has them 59th.

I tend to agree with the humans. Alabama is a very flawed team this year. Having Oregon 7th and alabama 1st tells me something is wrong.

Everyone loves AI until it tells you something other than what you want to hear.

People who vote has biases. If the computer is set up right, there will be no bias. It just facts.

I think there should be a balance between human polls and computer polls like the BCS. But, the field is at 12, so if you aren't objectively in the top 12, I genuinely don't care. It's too many already.

I have to laugh at how everyone lobbied for a playoff expansion lowkey because they hated how they felt the SEC benefited from it more than any other conference, not thinking about how it opened the floodgates for more SEC teams to get in.
Well they are fricking around and about to find out. When the top 4 our all SEC teams the crying will be even louder.

Also with OPs desire should vandy be a playoff team? They certainly showed they can beat the best.
This is a bad take and here's why, lots of teams have shown they can beat the best, without also showing that they can lose to Georgia state & 3 other teams

this kind of subjective bias in the ranking systems
Simply picking the "best" teams to play in the playoffs is BY DEFINITION a subjectively biased system.
The only objective way is a tournament of conference champions.

I assumed the humans on the committee would use polls and computers to help them. They are actively ranking the SEC lower than both.
