It's called "not having to play Georgia". In 2023 there was only one team that could beat us and obviously in typical fashion we did have to play (and lose to) them.

UGA would have whooped Michigan that year.

So the team that beat Bama would lose to a team that lost to Bama…. Okay boss

In the era of NIL this is less relevant. Teams can add guys that were 2 and 3 stars that went to play at G5 schools for a couple years and became monsters. Cashius Howell is a great example, he was the #30 player in Missouri out of HS. KC Conception was the #22 player in North Carolina. Both those guys are All SEC talents and maybe All Americans now. You can just let players develop elsewhere and then buy them once they start to break out.

The world still hasn't adjusted fully to that.

Harbaugh was too good for CFB, that’s your answer

Your post proves what an absolute disaster BK and SW were this season. One of the most if not the most embarrassing seasons in LSU history. BK is pure garbage. I hope his son gets booed mercilessly in front of that fat alcoholic.

They get graded again when they transfer. So a former 3 star can become a 4 star and vice versa.

Media outlets often stick to the old ones though. "Former 5 star" and such, for the headlines. But the services themselves give them new grades.

Uhhhh Ahhhhh There was this big cheating scandal that Michigan engaged in 2023. It was only headlines for about a month before the BIG conference commissioners decided that because OSU was out of the picture and punishing Michigan would mean no BIG representation in the playoffs that it wasn't realllllllllllllllly a big deal after all. All Michigan had done was scout and steal signs from every opponent they would face.

They were a senior led team with a lot of snaps together. They were well coached and disciplined. Very dedicated to a power team that was almost a throwback at the time.

This, across the board. You play with the same dudes for 4-5 years and go up against a more talented but less cohesive opponent and you have a serious advantage.

Doesn't happen much anymore, will happen less and less, but it's a huge advantage.

Weak schedule or not what Cignetti has managed to do at IU is impressive

The talent composite isn’t as important as it used to be with the ability to replace high school recruiting misses with proven college players via the transfer portal

These are all included.
Portal players are regraded
It's the "composite" talent on the team.

It’s the portal player’s high school recruiting ratings not their transfer portal ones.

Almost certain to be one of those six teams.

Bunch of 4th, 5th, and 6th year players with a mostly crap schedule and the best team in 2023 didn’t make the playoffs and Alabama’s center was complete arse in their game. They weren’t some overwhelming dominant force that year.

In essence. I was on heavy work loads for several years including that one (80+ hour weeks).. wasn't as plugged in to the CFB world at the time.

I heard rumblings but always assumed it wasn't a big deal since they got to compete for a national title and it wasn't vacated. I guess their brand carried them a long way if it was that bad and it all got swept under the rug.
