Baylor is the product of a weak conference. Beat OU this weekend, and then we will see about them. Now Minnesota is a little bit more of a quandary. They beat PSU, and as such, should be rated higher than they are

quote:

Baylor’s D is top 5 in the country; they clamp everyone. Brewer is currently one of the most clutch QBs in the nation and the WR group is a nightmare for any team.

I honestly think Baylor would beat every team but Bama and LSU and it would be under 10 with a punchers chance.

I think Hurts gets ROCKED when we blitz him on Saturday and win like we have been all year; driving down the field and scoring with the the game on the line

That is some Grade-A delusion ...

Minnesota should be four.

Minnesota OOC schedule is:

San Diego St, Fresno St, Ga Southern, each of those games were a one score game.
They haven't played Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, or Wisconsin.

There have been G5 teams in the past that have been undefeated and played a tougher schedule than the Gophers and not sniffed the top 5.

What will be crap is if OU/Baylor is a 1 loss champ and Bama gets in over them. UGA will not get in if they don't win the SEC.

Going with the odds:

UGA beats AU, AU drops to 7-3, falls to #15-20.
UA beats AU, AU drops to 8-4, maybe drops out of the top 25, probably around #20-25.

At that point, who would Alabama have beaten?

Maybe A&M crawls back into the top 25, only to drop out after a loss to LSU. About all Alabama would have is a win over a marginally ranked Auburn.

...oh yeah, and a quality loss.

If other teams start racking yup quality wins in November, and during the conference championship games, I just don't see Alabama doping anything that wouldn't have teams jumping them.

If Oregon and Utah win out, they play each other for a quality win to the winner.

Baylor and OU play each other this week and Baylor plays Texas.

If OU beats Baylor this week and then Baylor wins out with a conf champ, i don't see how you could say "well, Bama is just better." Who gives a frick? They didn't earn their way. Just like 2011 and 2017.

If quality wins > quality losses, why did the committee put Bama at #5?

The CFP committee has no consistency.

I like how the entire premise of this thread is that the committee is including teams that are observably good over teams who aren't actually as good.

the horror

But then why do they have Alabama at #5?

Is it that quality loss on their schedule? Because they certainly don't have any quality wins to show they're "observably good".

“Observably”

Or the “eye test”

It’s all fake. Wins and losses matter; not “observations”

How does Georgia get ranked at four for dropping a game at home verse a third string quarterback while there are two other undefeated teams with better resumes?

Winning games is not the focus here. It’s how you look

Georgia has dominant wins over other teams, Baylor has squeaked by inferior teams, and Minnesota is unproven as well. One (albeit dominant) win over Penn State does not equate lasting success.

With all due respect to SCar, the thing about this is that losing to SCar is not a quality loss. It's a loss to a team that won't be bowl eligible. Georgia could have beaten every new, weekly #1 (or #2) for 8 out of their first 9 games and that wouldn't balance out a loss to a 4-6 team that just lost to a G5 school.

Defensive oriented team will never look as good as offensive teams.

Notice the argument changes; big 12 a couple years ago was dropping 70 on everyone. “They don’t play defense”

Now that a big 12 can clamp on D, “you don’t look as good”

Not surprised

Exactly. I had forgotten how delusional Baylor fans can be.

Don't forget they're only an hour and a half from College Station. That whole section of Texas is just weird. One is rapey and the other is faggy and everybody I've ever met from the city of Houston is a loopy weirdo (transplants not included)

Yep. Every Baylor fan I know is a little off. They still defend Briles and claim he’s a saint and did nothing wrong

Maybe it has to do with dancing banned from campus events.

Outside of this board, most pundits seem to agree with OP. Actually, contrary to loudest comments... looks like most ppl on the (SEC) board do too.

That says a lot.

It’s to early to worry about it now. Georgia will another game . They still play 3 teams that are better then everyone they have played so far besides UF.
