Agree.

After next weekend, both TCU and Baylor will have played the exact same conference schedule. Baylor beat TCU head-to-head.

Is the committee seriously pointing to TCU's victory over Minnesota as more prestigious than Baylor's victory over TCU? The Gophers aren't even ranked in their very own Top 25.

If the rankings hold, this will be the biggest win over Minnesota since the Nazis were stirring shite up.

Ok smart guy explain how to Big12 teams with 1 loss records how TCU gets in over Baylor when they met head to head? What do you see in TCUs body of work that leads you to this conclusion?

That's what you're implying when two teams with the same record in the same conference are so closely ranked, but team A is ranked ahead of team B who they lost to.

This is not about who should/would be favored in a rematch or against the other top teams. It should be about giving a team what they earned on the field of play.

I'm implying no such thing. The problem is in your inferences. I'm saying the overall rubric needs to be looked at. Just an extreme hypothetical here: Team A is 11-1 with an average opponent ranking of 13, blowing them out by an average of 2 TDs. Team B is 11-1 with an average opponent ranking in the 30s, squeaking by in most games. Team B beat Team A by 3 points (which was the actual margin of the TCU/Baylor game, 61-58 @Baylor.) Who has the better overall resume?

I'm not taking a position on the TCU vs Baylor debate. I'm merely pointing out that it's completely logical to favor Team A over Team B despite Team B winning the head-to-head. Hell, given the number of points people mentally tack on for home field advantage, TCU's only problem was that they happened to play at Baylor rather than at home. There are many factors to consider, and going merely by one game is simplistic, to say the least.

Actually, as I said before, if the rankings end up like that, it makes Bama's road harder. Most teams would rather have a month to prepare for Oregon/TCU than FSU. FSU is pretty straightforward. Oregon/TCU aren't nearly as simple.

Yes, but Alabama may prefer to play FSU and the Oregon/TCU winner than playing both Oregon AND TCU, which I think would happen.

Maybe the committee feels that TCU performed better than BU in the "soon to be" 8 common opponents. Add to it that BU refused to play a P5 OOC and I am fine with TCU over BU.

Nothing leads me to believe it. I haven't sat down and analyzed their respective records. I honestly don't care in the least whether TCU or Baylor makes it. Frankly, I'd vote for Mississippi State, myself. I'm just pointing out that it's entirely possible to draw one's conclusion from more than a single game. Indeed, it's intellectually unsound not to do so.

That's definitely the flip side. It all depends on how confident you are that your team would beat either with only a week to prepare.

I'm not sure I believe that. I think the coaching staffs will have to do a ton of prep ahead of time, but I think 10 days is more than enough time for the players.

I saw an article last week saying Bama had been covering what Auburn does since August. We saw those results, Oregon might be even better on Offense than AU. I said when the Playoff was announced that it would cause problems for the SEC to win a NC. The SEC use to be built on Defense, a 30 prep period before the BCSNCG was always a big advantage.

Exactly. See last Saturday's Egg Bowl. Home field and other factors play in for just one game.

They play in the same conference though....Baylors only loss was to WVU who gave Bama all they could handle in the first game of the season.

I'm just tryng to understand how TCU is deserving of their lofty ranking over Baylor as well as tOSU and MSU

I can't help with the specifics. I've watched a total of 3 games involving them. One just TCU, one just Baylor, and the Baylor/TCU game. The resume on paper looks pretty good for both of them, so there's probably more going on inn the committee discussions than most of us are privy to. But I imagine the criteria are pretty similar to the ones that elevated 1 loss Bama and 1 loss Oregon over undefeated FSU. "Game control" and so forth.
