Dude was actually the best coach of the 3. He just really sucked at cheating

Serious question from someone who’s still learning the nuances of collegiate hoops ....
Why isn’t Steve Alford’s name mentioned more in conjunction with some of these openings?
His lifeline coaching record is well above .500, and he really seems to know the ins and out of the college game.
Was he involved in some kind of controversy?
Does he come with personal baggage?
