8 teams remain as the season comes to a close. The CWS is finally here and half of the bracket is owned by the mighty SEC.
Usually the hottest team at the time makes it to the finals. So who are the hottest teams?
Number 1, the Florida Gators. They were very inconsistent all season long and once they took on Vandy at the end of the regular season, a light bulb went off and they have been hot from there on out.
Number 2, the Vanderbilt Commadores. Vandy has played some very good baseball lately besides losing the SEC Championship game they have looked extremely impressive. Their offense is scary good and if their starting pitching lives up to how good they are, they will be unhitable.
Number 3, Cal State Fullerton.
The Titans ended the year on a high note after starting the year pretty badly. They are playing as good of baseball as anyone right now. Many people didn't expect them to get out of their regional and they did, and some didn't think they could go and beat Louisville and they did. This team reminds me of the 2013 UCLA team. They thrive off of other teams mistakes and have some pretty good pitching. FYI, my pre-regional CWS finals pick was Florida and Cal State Fullerton.
Number 4, the Arkansas Razorbacks. Many people know this team is playing very good. One place they need to improve on if they want a run is pitching and the pitching's been pretty good lately so if they keep it up and have a good offense, they'll make a run to the finals.
Number 5, the Virginia Cavaliers. Virginia is playing very good as well lately and an experienced team like them with very good coaching, I would not want to play against them. They remind me of the 2007 Oregon State team. I would not be surprised if they make it back to the finals.
Number 6, the Miami Hurricanes. Miami seems low but they are playing good baseball. Their offense is one of the best in Omaha, and they are like their oldselves again. They are playing like that powerhouse ballclub they use to be. Very dangerous team.
Number 7, the LSU Tigers. The first 6 teams are playing good but I think these last 2 are playing ok baseball right now. LSU's offense has not been there lately. Their pitching has been good, especially their starters, but the offense isn't there like it was the whole year. If they can get that offense going again, they have a very good shot at making it to the CWS Finals.
Number 8, The TCU Horned Frogs. TCU is just getting by in the postseason. They probably shouldn't have beat NC State but did and they barley got past A&M, with some luck. They are just getting past teams and that won't cut it in Omaha. They got away with mistakes and you can't expect for that to happen in Omaha.

CWS First Round
Virginia vs Arkansas -Virginia
Florida vs Miami -Florida
LSU vs TCU -LSU
Vanderbilt vs Cal State Fullerton -Vanderbilt

CWS Final 4

Hard to disagree with any of that.

Certainly hope LSU wins but that's a solid prediction.

Anything can happen in baseball - including this prediction. I hope you're wrong, but could see this play out

I think you are underestimating how hot TCU is with that very deep pitching staff. You are right about Florida being the hottest team. But believe me, they are beatable. Everybody is. Wouldn't surprise me if a dark horse won it all.

Which team has the beat starters and deepist bullpen? That is the team that should be favorites.

Teague is out for Arkansas. We now have only two regular starters remaining and now a shorter bullpen.

Yikes

TCU and Florida. But as long as your team can avoid the losers bracket, depth should not be a problem for any of the eight.

Idk I think I'd rather Vanderbilt than Florida on our side of the bracket. Both are playing great right now though

We have made it as far as we can with this team, IMO. Nothing to be ashamed of either. I think we go 0-2 or maybe 1-2. Been a great run though.
