I live in Austin and really like it but San Antonio is awesome. Relatively inexpensive, best Tex Mex on the planet as well as a lot of other good eats, the Riverwalk, 2 Theme Parks (I've got kids), some very eclectic and cool neighborhoods, Fiesta, the Hill Country to the North and West.
The problem is a lot of people who visit San Antonio don't know San Antonio. It's an incredibly diverse and unique city.

DFW: Money, the nicest football stadium ever, the best Six Flags, multiple Fry's
Houston: Best restaurants in Texas, top museums, NASA, even more oil money, multiple Fry's
Austin: ACL/SBSW, Wholefoods, tech industry, wonderful outdoor parks, a Fry's
San Mexico: Dirty arse Riverwalk, run down Fiesta Texas, no toll roads to keep the poor out of your way on the ride to work, no Fry's
