Ha. Arkansas is a much better job than Texas and no one is hiring Pearl, only Aubie would hire that slime ball.

I could see both coaches listening to leverage a raise but Texas basketball isn't a step up for either.

This.

Let’s be frank. Both Coach K and Roy Williams are getting up in age. So UNC and Duke will likely come open in the next few years. Boeheim is closer to 80 than 70 at this point, so Syracuse could come open. Mack doesn’t improve at Louisville in a hurry, he could be on a hot seat.

If I’m somewhere like Arkansas or Auburn and doing alright, I’m building my resume for a bit and waiting for bigger programs to come open.

It's purely an opinion piece. Of course it's click bait.

Actually some of these good coaches in the SEC is raising the profile for the league as whole. I remember when the SEC was lucky to get 2 teams in the NCAA tournament

If it was someone other than Texas, that had all the advantages Texas should have... I would say both schools should be very worried.

The problem is that it is Texas. The inmates are running the asylum at Texas right now. The level of interference, the sheer incompetence of the AD, and the growing sense that Texas is the new Nebraska of elderly sports programs I think leans many coaches away from there.

Now, with a good AD, which they do not have, Texas could turn things around in a heart beat in multiple sports. But until they get that good AD, do you risk going there?

frick Texas.

For most of their basketball programs existence we have been their daddy. That status hasn’t changed.

This doesn’t go for Auburns program...but realistically, there’s likely only a very small handful of programs that MIGHT ever take a coach from Arkansas. It’s never happened before in our history, but if it were to happen there’s likely only 2-3 programs nationally that may pull it off.

Texas isn’t one of those, for sure. Indiana isn’t either.

No one is hiring that stiff POS musselman. You can get a scarecrow for less.

UNC, Duke, Kentucky, and maybe UCLA since Musselman apparently really likes California. Outside of that I'm not worried.
