There's been the talking point that A&M is a head coach graveyard, but is that necessarily true compared to LSU?
Let's examine things here over the last 100 years:
LSU
Branch Bocock - South Carolina
Mike Donahue - Nope
Russ Cohen - Cincinnati
Biff Jones - Oklahoma, then Nebraska
Bernie Moore - Nope
Gaynell Tinsley - Nope
Paul Dietzel - Army, then South Carolina
Charles McClendon - Nope
Jerry Stovall - Nope
Bill Arnsparger - Assistant, but never a HC afterwards
Mike Archer - Assistant, but never a HC afterwards
Curly Hallman - Nope
Gerry DiNardo - Indiana
Nick Saban - Miami Dolphins, then Alabama
Les Miles - Still hasn't coached since leaving
Texas A&M
D.X. Bible - Nebraska, Texas
Matty Bell - SMU
Homer Norton - Nope
Harry Stiteler - Nope
Raymond George - Assistant, not a HC
Bear Bryant - Alabama
Jim Myers - Assistant, not a HC
Hank Foldberg - Nope
Gene Stallings - Phoenix Cardinals, Alabama
Emory Bellard - Mississippi State
Tom Wilson - Assistant, not a HC
Jackie Sherrill - Mississippi State
R.C. Slocum - Still has not coached since being fired
Dennis Franchione - Texas State
Mike Sherman - Assistant, not a HC
Kevin Sumlin - TBD
So let's categorize them:
Went on to be a HC at another FBS school:
A&M - 7
LSU - 6
Went on to be an NFL head coach:
A&M - 1
LSU - 1
Went on to be an assistant coach, but not a HC:
A&M - 4
LSU - 2
Didn't coach again after leaving, retiring, or being fired:
LSU - 7
A&M - 5
So seeing those, which school is REALLY a place for coaches to die?

And LSU still can't afford Jimbo.

Homer Norton was the coach of the 1939 A&M National Championship team, but please, keep failing.
Also, I didn't include a certain individual who coached at both LSU and A&M because it fell outside the 100 year parameter.
D.X. Bible coached at LSU in 1916, then got the frick out of there and won two national titles at A&M.

Lol 1939 is not a legitimate claim by any means.

It's as legitimate as 1958. Just because the coaches poll didn't exist until 1950 doesn't nullify the AP poll, which began in 1936.
Also, 8-0-2 teams don't get to claim national titles over 11-0-0 teams no matter what the Dickinson poll says.

Those numbers look really close, I don't know if I would have went through all of that trouble. Post them scoreboard numbers. It won't take long to research them.

1939 is A&Ms only legitimate claim. But it is legitimate. USC and Tennessee can frick off.

Don't worry, as usual we'll get thew last laugh when you're ponying up a 40 mil buyout in 4-5 years.

Teams that lose their bowl game don't get to claim national championships.

So much insecurity. So much wasted time.
