I don’t think Nick Saban would’ve suffered the fools that would’ve been his boss at some of these schools.

He wanted full control to build his program his way. Not many athletic programs would’ve allowed a ball coach to come in with autonomy like that. And it’s doubtful they’d have paid that kind of bank for a dictator.

He started his Bama tenure as a rock star coach with two SEC titles, a national championship, and NFL head coaching experience on his resume. He had none of that when he started at LSU yet build them into a perennial national title contender that went on to win it in '07 without him and would have in '11 if he had not returned to get in the way.

If Saban doesn't leave LSU, I think he still wins multiple national titles and Bama has just one in the last 40 years.
