Dominated their era. Coach Dye gave everything to Auburn. He learned everything from Coach Bryant. He taught Bama that we will never fear them.

Pat Dye benefited from Bear Bryant being on the back end of his career and Alabama being pretty mediocre after Bryant retired

Coach Harsin isn't much better than Arkansas HC. Which team is he and Auburn going to beat in the SEC this fall?

Dye never dominated anything.

12 years @ Auburn he had

25% of his seasons only won 5 games
Only 33% of his had 10 wins

Never had an undefeated Season

Only won 10 games Back to back once
Got Auburn put on NCAA Sanctions

The dominate teams of that era when Dye coached were all from the state of Florida

You are half correct, which is better than most posts on here actually, so good job.

Yeah...Dye wasn't so dominant. Perhaps in the eyes of Auburn fans, who were only used to mediocrity prior to his arrival, but not in the eyes of anyone else. Georgia, Penn State, and Nebraska were probably the top football programs in college football from 1980-82 (Bryant's final years). Then came the rise of Miami in 1983 and Florida State in 1987. Auburn was good in 1983 and again from 1987-1989, but they were never consistently on the same level as other programs such as Florida State, Miami, and Nebraska.

Dye also benefited from Florida being on probation in the mid 80’s and the couple of years to recover pre-Spurrier
