how long did Danny Ford stay at Clemson after his NC?
What about the coaches at Ga Tech and Colorado when they co shared a title in'90?
Danny Ford won a national title at Clemson in 1981. He was there until 1989.
Bobby Ross won a title at Georgia Tech in 1990. He left after the 1991 season to take the San Diego Chargers job.
Bill McCartney won a title at Colorado in 1990. He retired in 1994.

thanks, now what about Ford? I think clemson got into trouble not long after they won back in the 80's. he may have been run off.

ETA: a few people beat me to it
Ross left one season after the national title to become an NFL head coach (Chargers). Doesn't qualify.

He did get run off and ended up at Arkansas where he cashed checks for a couple years before retiring.

I don't see how they can fire him two years removed from a national title and sell job security to the next potential coach. Who would want to take the job with that quick of a trigger by the AD?
This would make sense if they manage to somehow get bowl eligible. That would require them to beat Vandy this weekend, and take two from UGA, Aggy, and Bama though. If Chizik manages to do that he probably doesn't get fired anyway. There's no excuse for going 3-9 or 4-8 with the kind of talent Auburn allegedly has though. Firing him for that won't hurt their ability to sell job security. Most coaches would probably tell you they deserve to be fired if they can't win with those kind of players.

I think he is gone unless he pulls a rabbit outta his arse and wins some games to close out the season.
Auburn is the worst team in the SEC not named Kentucky. They are an OT win over ULM at home that included a Hail Mary away from being 0-6.

I'd actually like to see that game, but I will go with AU>UK.
Missouri-UK game will be interesting, if UM whips them(as I expect), it will solidify my opinion.

Chiz ain't gon' be fired this year or the next.
He and Richt are going to be around for a while.
Chizik and Richt aren't even in remotely the same situation.
Georgia is constantly winning ten games with Richt at the helm, Chizik has us on pace for a 2-10/3-9 season.

Kentucky would beat us on a neutral field and I say that with full confidence.

Ross...kind of a sidetrack here...but briefly just what is the problem? Its not like Chiz has not done any recruiting. Auburn has talent. I know your OC is abysmal. Does it simply come down to Loeffler and Chiz being bad coaches?

According to the BCS standings Auburn IS the worst team in the SEC. Auburn comes in at #81 while Kentucky ranks ahead of them at #77.

We don't develop players, and our coaches being all buddy buddy has really hurt the mentality around here and made us soft as a marshmallow. Our QB situation is horrendous, that falls on the coaches as well. Our offensive play calling is extremely questionable. Our offensive line opens the floodgates constantly whenever we drop back to pass. Our RBs are undersized and have had a fumbling problem. In fact, our entire team has a turnover problem.
Our defense has slowly gotten better but they still miss way too many tackles and are just generally not talented enough to even come to close to making up for the bad situations the offense creates for them.
We're physically and mentally weak and the coaches have no idea what to do about it. Talking to the players around campus, a lot of them don't even give a shite.
It's sad.

How many of these players have you talked to and how many of them are actual starters?

At present I don't see chizik fired this season, there is plenty of football left and a few more blowouts so we shall see.
Some boosters want Petrino others don't want him near the program.
I expect chizik to stay with major staff changes. I think BVG will stay if he gets his way.

two starters, one guy buried far down the depth chart
Lot of players do care, there are definitely some that just don't.

In one word, the problem is Chizik.
Honorable mention to Jacobs or whoever it was that hired a terrible coach to begin with

Less than 18 games and there was a groundswell growing. Now at 18 games since hoisting the crystal, there is almost unanimous support to can him. It's quite amazing.
Not really. They realize that Chizik was not a successful coach at Iowa St., came to Auburn got lucky having Malzahn, Cam and a just good enough defense and now he is exposed as the unsuccessful coach he was before he came to Auburn. Having a new OC and DC and a young OL will do that to you. Malzahn recruited players for his spread-option and now Chiz is trying to switch to a pro-style offense. I have no idea why he didn't get another spread-option type OC. Frazier would be a much better fit in that kind of offense.

Frazier wouldn't fit in any kind of offense ever in the SEC. He's horrible.

Frazier wouldn't fit in with any offense. Playing QB for a major D1 program requires you to be capable of making decisions. Frazier probably gets a headache when they ask him "paper or plastic?" at the grocery store.
