Cheezdick and Recruiting

Wonder how the boy did prior to having cash as a primary recruiting tool. And yes, I know ISU is not a college football mecca, so here's a few other things tossed in for comparison's sake.
Per Scout...
ISU Recruiting
2002: #69
2003: #60
2004: #57
2005: #50
2006: #59
2007: #69 - Gene's first class.
2008: #58 - With Gene again.
2009: #79
2010: #73
AU Recruiting
2002: #11
2003: #16
2004: #31
2005: #22 - After an undefeated season and #2 ranking, AU didn't get a bump?
2006: #9
2007: #6
2008: #18
2009: #16 - Gene's first class.
2010: #6 - Gene again.
You have to keep in mind that Tubby was a proven commodity while Gene was just Gene. The relevant average ranking of both teams:
ISU pre-Gene: #59
ISU with Gene: #63.5
AU pre-Gene: #16.1
AU with Gene: #12.5
So, assuming no money or enticements are involved in the recruitment of Cam, how does an unproven HC come in and immediately make a recruiting splash? Why wasn't there a similar improvement with Gene at ISU? Hell, Tubby had a hard time recruiting to the plains...very interesting. And highly coincidental with the news of the last few days.

The investigation is going to show that they paid Dyer and several others when it is all said and done.

This is almost as bad as some of the ITAT quotes posted.

My feeling is when Auburn hired Gene, a lot of the AU fanbase panicked. "WTF!!?? Did we just really hire a coach that is 5 and effing 19 at Iowa effing State!!??" The Pat Dye wing of the AU family became re-emboldened by the dissatisfaction of the majority of the Tiger/War Eagle/Plainsmen fans and decided to "help things along".
What I'm not sure of is how much GC was complicit/aware of the alleged shenanigans. It's entirely plausible that GC, knowing he was on a very short leash as a result of the hiring fiasco, turned a blind eye to Dye and the funny money crew.
Speculation? Sure. But makes more sense than the logical gymnastics that a lot of the AU fans are going through to explain away the situation.

Maybe when your OC consistently has the top 5 offense in the NCAA including when he at frickING Tulsa....it helps, But lets ignore obvious things and only see what you want.

So Malzahan is the reason for recruiting success? I think hes clearly the reason for the on-field success.

Much the same way you and your Aub buds are ignoring the smoke down in Aubieville?

You dont think it helps?? Just like you dont think it helps that Alabama gets top Defensive recruits because they know they will play for a top defense??

Our recruiting has been very consistent over the years...you don't see the spike that we all saw with AU this year.
Keep deflecting, though...

No I think it helps I was just curious if you were giving Malzahn all the credit for bringing in Cam and Dwyer etc.

Im not ignoring anything, Have no idea what the truth is just like none of you do. Not once has the NCAA ever punished a university bc someone "ASKED" for extra benefits and didnt receive them. If they have, please show me the link.. Maybe AU did pay them, but if you have seen those allegations please show me that link. I have no idea what will happen but it is funny to watch everyone just get on their knees and pray that this is so true just because the Kid is that Good and they are either butthurt their team got beat or know they will be butthurt in a few weeks. Its pitiful really that it makes you guys giddy that maybe , just maybe some Booster paid the kid and it will hurt a lot of innocent kids and people at a university.

So recruits wanted merely to play for Malzahn - offensive genius and all-- but didn't chose to play for Petrino(significantly more of a rep as a 'genius' than Malzahn...especially 2 years ago.)
I don'tfollow this logic

So you acknowledge that Cecil was shopping his son. That would make Cecil Cam's agent. Players usually are ineligible when they have agent representation...that is the NCAA's stance on things.

Check out the boards yourself. The links are everywhere.

I like how you capitalized Kid' and 'Good'...God has willed it and you are all in.

See Bama sanctions and Aubie reaction to it, early 2000's. Been there, done that.
Yes, we are in the shoes you wore back then and you are in ours. Funny stuff, eh?

Don't stop believin'! Got evidence?
I am guessing the cryptic one here is referring to Lattimore...Lache has already gone on the record that everything was on the up and up. No one has heard anything out of Lattimore....but why stop now "I have sources too! Look at me!!"
