The post season has never been sanctioned by the ncaa. They do not recognize a national champ.

What always bothered me about this was the ncaa could give u a bowl ban.

Professional golf tournaments and tennis tournaments. Boxing and MMA.

Not really. In every other sport there is a mini tournament to see who gets in (Conference Champ), then at-large bids are extended to increase the competition. Not in the CFP, where at-large bids are based on "eye tests"

I mean, everyone here knows you're an idiot but do you even put an ounce of thought into your posts before you hit "submit"

Literally every NCAA tourney in all the major sports relies on subjective metrics to nominate participants in some way. Not every conference champion gets an automatic bid.

Tournaments in both Tennis and golf are for money. The Opens require players to earn their way into the field. But of course those are INDIVIDUAL sports and not team sports, so those are all bad examples.

The current format is an invitational tournament, like the NIT. While legitimate, it is not optimal, giving Status as much credence as Performance.

I understand completely. Its a mythical NC because it is fictitious. Always has been, even the NCAA identifies it as fictitious. Words that Bammers will never accept and really don't understand.

It's great that you are an Auburn fan instead of an Alabama fan.

So I guess you just want to move the goalposts since the question you asked was answered

You are not one of those fricking morons that think the NCAA references those words in order to distinguish the level of egregious activity each word represents? Of course, nobody could be that stupid, even a Bammer.

No, I guess I'm just one of those fricking morons who believe how the NCAA defines them in their own guidelines. You aren't one of those fricking morons who would continue to argue that they mean something different even when someone is cutting and pasting those very same guidelines for you, are you? Of course, no one could be that stupid, not even... oh, wait, never mind.

Good. The NCAA is a terrible organization that eats up a lot of money. Replace it with an accountable organization to enforce rules.

Not moving the goalpost. You gave a very poor example And I showed you where you were wrong. Now correct me.

I’m sorry there were sports that fit your stated criteria and, since you didn’t like it, you created additional qualifiers (moving the goalposts)

Now correct me.

Already did

But I’m glad to know you didn’t celebrate nor do you recognize the achievements from Auburns 2010 football season since it basically didn’t happen

Would Auburn fans be making this arguement if their team didn’t suck? Did they make it after 2010?

No you didn't. Please tell us a sport(team sport) where the champion is crowned by not getting an automatic berth based on earning their way into the field as a recognized champion. The at-large bids only come after the automatic bids are filled. You posted individual professional sports to fill TV and charity events, but even the Opens have to be earning you way into the field based on rules. The US Open golf even has earned qualifiers all over the country for the remaining slots. Again, individual sports not team sports, so give me an example of a team sport.

Based on 1983, 1993 and 2004, probably so.

If this happens, you can all thank Mississippi State President Mark Keenum. Don’t ever say we haven’t contributed our share

The NCAA is the schools

It's a shell game, always has been. The NCAA was created to provide the illusion of self governance and nothing has ever changed about that.
