Sure got close to Speedy Noil, pretty fast himself and twice the athlete this kid is.

Mack Wilson hit

100 yard times mean little on a football field.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I had two people in vastly different places tell me Shivers was special when they found out I was an AU fan

I'm not sure how much Shivers will contribute this year, but there's not a player in this past class who's career I'm more excited for than Shivers. I've been pumping him up on the AU board as Darren Sproles 2.0 for about a year now. If I could find it, I had a really good post on there earlier this year I think where I compared Shivers and Sproles HS track times and their HS football highlights. It was clear that Shivers has a slight edge in development at this point, especially when considering Shivers played at a high level of Florida HS while Sproles went to HS in Kansas. The two are ridiculously similar though down to the way they are built and the way they look.

Go watch the actual game. You can't tell by that gif. But if you watch the game it's targeting. The announcer even said a flag should have been thrown.

Targeting is not helmet-to-helmet, my guy.

Targeting is either hitting a defenseless player above the shoulders, or leading with the crown of the helmet.

That hit is textbook targeting.

Maybe another play I don't know, but on that play Mack hit him in the chest(no helmet to helmet), and both feet were on the ground at the point of contact(no launching). It is clearly a clean hit.

Doubt you'd say that if he had picked UF. Bet you were pretty excited when y'all were the favorite to land him for so long.

Isn’t this the guy that got schooled by our walk-on kicker in this past Iron Bowl?

Hey, y'all missed the point in watching this spectacular hit. The OP said Wilson couldn't get to his guy, this clip made it clear he can. Many AU and UT fans are fine, but those seething with envy and bitterness as they have to have the Tide shoved in their face all year, every year, can't even enjoy a great hit or the point of the argument. Just looking for any little defect, circling like vultures to scavenge a morsel of whine here or there. Tsk, tsk.

BULL.frickING.shite.

Here's a video of the play with a better angle and slow-mo

LINK

The crown of Wilson's helmet hits the aggie square in his facemask

And here's a screenshot so you don't even have to watch the video if you don't want to.

unless you're Usain Bolt there's not a whole lot of money in pro T&F. Most "pro" T&F guys are lucky to make more than $5000 a year. Even many elite track athletes could probably make more annually working at McDonald's than in earnings from T&F

LINK

quote:

According to a grant-making nonprofit, the average income for 150 U.S. athletes who ranked in the top 10 in their event in 2015 earned $17,000 that year.

Even the exception in Usain Bolt is waaayyy down the list of annual earninga for pro athletes, and literally 99% of his annual earnings come from endorsements and not track winnings.

By far the smart move is to go to college for free for the next couple years, get world class training and workouts for free at AU, then make the Olympics and expose yourself internationally. And if he has the chance to play in the NFL then there's far more money to be made as a pro athlete there.
