Are mega conferences inevitable or do we eventually see a parting of continents into more regional setups again? Every Big12 team that entered the SEC has either competed for the SEC championship or represented as a playoff SEC team. These are quality programs who are more than capable of carrying a regional conference. Do we really want to see North Carolina and Florida State in the SEC too? When does it stop?

I think it eventually becomes two super conferences...especially with the playoffs format. College is basically becoming the NFL. They will have two super conferences like the NFL has the NFC and AFC. Hell, college has even started paying their players and players can transfer just like free agency in the NFL.

I'd add Clemson + FSU and go back to divisions. So the East would be:
Clemson
Florida
Florida State
Georgia
Kentucky
Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
9 conference games so you could still have cross divisional games (AU/UGA, Bama/Vols, UF/LSU, etc). Ideally Mizzou would move to the West but then that means you'd have to put Auburn in the East.

These aren't conferences. They are media rights collectives.

College is looking just like the NFL....that its obviously thats what they want to do. Have two super conferences and have a playoff system where the conference champion from both conferences play for the National Championship just like AFC and NFC Championship game.

I mean ideally the B10 and SEC would just tell the rest of CFB to frick off and do their own thing.

That would be the only way you force Notre Dame to join a conference and they would be in the Big 10 obviously.

Well yeah the B10 would take Miami and ND to get to 20 teams and 2 divisions.

Obviously the alumni and fans of those schools would still watch, but i imagine engagement would drop across the board. I’m a Texas alum and fan, but I love the Stanford vs Cal game. I love the Boston College uniforms. I love night games in Lubbock, TX. I love the coaching pedigree of the Pacific Northwest. I damn near shed a tear at the end of each Army v Navy game. The Kansas State Power Cat is iconic. I could go on and on about shite I love about College Football that is being threatened.

You dont think Miami would join the SEC? I think they would and Florida State would also to join Florida in the SEC. I could see the Big 10 adding teams like Notre Dame and say Clemson.

Does Notre Dame join one or continue to bitch about it?

Notre Dame would be forced to join at that point and any conference would roll out the red carpet for the revenue alone that ND would bring. Hell, ND has its own major TV network(NBC) showing their games and no other team in college has that. Notre Dame brings that kind of following and money to the table.
