That big offer came his way: $1.5 million from an SEC school for a single season

And this is what will be the end of college football for me. Just turn it into the NFL minor leagues and be done with it.

It's not sustainable as-is. Wondering what the final nail will be before there's some kind of change.

False.

Can't turn down what was never offered. You think cheap arse Auburn would pay Taulia that amount? He wasn't even worth that

I disagree with that.

He was worth a few extra wins, IMO. How many millions of dollars is that worth to the University and fanbase? That $1.5 was a bargain price.

Payton Thorne managed to keep Auburn within one possession of UGA, Bama, & Ole Miss. I think a competent QB could have won 3 of 4 out of those 3 + NMST.

Thorne went a combined 39 of 67, 409 yards passing, 3 TDs & 4 INTs in those games.

Take out NMST, and he was 24 of 48, 273 yards, 1 TD & 2 INTs.

At the very least, he beats Bama. How many millions (tens of millions?) of dollars would a win vs. Bama be worth - with Tua’s brother as the QB and in Saban’s last Iron Bowl?

And I'm telling you WR was the bigger issue last year than the QB.
Freeze has spent a lot of $ to fix that.
He was pretty clear that he wasn't willing to break the bank for a QB just yet.

if the offense isn't better with:
a. Freeze calling plays and b. huge upgrades at WR then I will blame it opn a QB. Lil Tua wasn't worth $1.5 million when you were throwing to the chumps we had last year, even though he was a better QB.

The Bama interest in Auburn honestly deserves a case study...

How can you love something SO MUCH that you claim to hate? Put time, effort, resources into it... Uncanny

Drake Maye turned down a similar offer from Alabama to stay at North Carolina.

Didn't need him. Won the SEC, unbeaten in the conference with Jalen Milroe.

Also the SEC Championship Game is on right now on SEC Network if you wanna watch.

With how bad Thorne is and how bad the backups must be it probably would have been a worthwhile investment.

Prolonged exposure to Auburn, Alabama does cause monkeypox. Good on Tua looking out for his brother

No it wouldn't. Again, not with the WR group we had.

Actually he never entered the portal and Alabama still contacted him. He , his parents, and Coach Brown were not happy and reported it. People who live in glasshouses
