Pete WAS the team. If they had any chance for victory it was because of his scoring. When he played the NCAA had a 16 team tourney, very hard to be selected. Because of the ACC tourney there were a few times the ACC regular season champion didn't make it.

Any idea what Maravich actually avg as a freshman? Just because he scored few points doesn't mean his avg was lower than Jackson. Pretty sure the freshman team didn't play nearly as many games.

If I remember correctly Pete would have scored over 50 a game with the 3 pt line.

You don't have anyone in the NFL who had better than a mediocre career?

Sorry, everyone can't claim great mediocre NFL players like McElroy and Jay Barker

"43.6 ppg. - freshman team; statistics do not count toward NCAA totals "

Averaged 15 made FG a game that year, so I guess if he shot 6 of those per game that would have been in 3 point range it would put him at 50ppg

Basketball - Robert Horry - How many championship rings has that guy got?

Football - Don Hutson - Till some guy name Jerry Rice came along, owned a fair number of the WR records. Still owns a few. Tough call though, lots of great picks, couldn't go wrong with a half dozen names.

Baseball - Dave Magadan maybe? Don't know that much about former Bama baseball players. Played forever, no threat to make the HOF though.

Nobody ever claimed Jay Barker or McElroy were great NFL players.

We do however have some HOF QB's you might have heard of. Namath, Starr.

How many NFL HOF QB's has Auburn produced? Heck, NFL HOF members that play any position for that matter.

Even the most Updyke of the Bama fan base dont try to down play Bo's career but if it makes you feel better, go for it. He's still better than any RB Bama's ever had.

Oh , and we have 1 player in the NFL HOF, thanks for asking but that doesn't change the point of this thread

Namath wasn't a very good NFL QB... All he's famous for is guaranteeing a Super Bowl and handling more panties than the little Filipino's that made them.

At first I thought you were serious, and then...War Eagle champ!

Yep, that's all he's "famous" for.

Baseball-Belle & McDonald (strictly talking College Career you could toss a few more players in this argument)

Football-Faulk/YA Title/Jimmy Taylor/Bert Jones (Faulk gets the nod for the Super Bowl Rings in the Pro's).

Basketball-Pistol and Shaq (CJ was one of the best College Players I've ever seen though).

Bo was a freak athlete though....ashame it was cut short

Then you will agree that Bo came up short in the NFL greatness litmus test as well.
