To me it seems like the top group is, in some order, UNC (Jordan, L.T., Surhoff), UCLA (Kareem, Aikman, Robinson), USCw (Bill Sharman, Marcus Allen, Mcgwire), Michigan (Barry Larkin, Tom Brady, Chris Webber), and Auburn (Barkley, Jackson, Frank Thomas.)
UNC, UCLA, and USCw are clearly better than Michigan/Auburn. It's a pretty good competition between Auburn and Michigan, though - Brady is one of the greatest football players ever already. Barkley is one of the 20 best basketball players ever. Barry Larkin edges Thomas - (12 all stars to 5, 9 silver sluggers to 4, 3 gold gloves to 0, but Thomas has one more league mvp). Jackson and Webber are very similar - college phenoms who went on to relatively unremarkable pro careers. Webber has the advantage in pro career - 5 all-stars, 5 all-NBAs. Jackson only had one pro bowl. The fact that he played another sport professionally is a huge feather in his cap, so he may have the advantage against Webber, but Michigan's three are overall a fair piece better than Auburn's.
I'd say the #1 spot is between UCLA and USCw. They're the only ones that don't have a glaringly weaker player in one of the sports. Chris Webber, Bo Jackson, and Surhoff drag their schools down.

Baseball for Bama probably Dave Magadan. That guy was one of the best hitters in cbb history. Wasnt quite the pro that he was in college though.

It's a strong group. Durant is still unproven, though, and is not on the same level in terms of career accomplishments as almost any other basketball player in the thread.

True. I bet that when his career is over, he will be on the same level as Barkley if not better.
Barkley's legacy has been helped in part due to his personality. I'm not saying he wasn't great. He was.

I dont think you guys are taking into consideration that Bo Jackson was damn good in two of the sports being considered. IMO this is what makes Auburn's group really stand out.
I also think when it's all said and done Cam is going to be added to this group which is what will put Auburn over the top

He may be, but that's pretty rarefied air. He's one of the 20 best of all time or so. If Durant gets there, then Texas will have as good a case as UCLA or USCw.

If we're only talking about college accomplishments, then Bo is up there. If we're considering the pros, Bo is not close to most of these other guys. He had a short career, only one all-star for baseball, and only one all-pro for football. The only thing which even makes it a conversation is the fact that he played both at the same time. Thing is, he didn't start in football, only had one terrific baseball year, and played all of seven seasons as a pro athlete. Even if you combined his awards from both sports and doubled their 'point value,' he would have fewer points than Chris Webber, of all people. He was a college great who lost out on his potential due to bad luck. That happens a lot, and you don't get points for potential.
Otherwise we'd be talking about Len Bias.

I'm considering the totality of all three players careers and that's what makes them stand out. For all that people say Bo only had one good year in both sports, he wasnt trash the remaining years he played two sports. Either way, how many other guys can you name that played at a consistently high level in two sports? Deion, Charlie Ward, and maybe a handful of other but not many
Also like, someone pointed out early if it's only about championship and awards then I'm going to start a thread asking why doesn't Robert Horry get the same respect Michael Jordan does

Robert Horry, greatest player to be in the right place at the right time

Bo Jackson, while a freak athlete, didn't last long in the pro game due to unfortunate circumstances. If we were to measure a player by potential instead of what they accomplished, then Brodie Croyle is the greatest Alabama quarterback of all-time.
