Can you recruit too many top OLmen?

I a little embarrassed... Alabama just flipped Auburns top OLman recruit. Alabama’s incoming class now has two 5-star OTs, two 4-star OGs, and a 4-star OC.

Question: Does a recruiting class this “heavy” in OL seem like overkill given Alabama’s depth in the position? Other national super elite teams such as Auburn and LSU don’t seem to think the OL is that important.

Maybe Saban is making a mistake with all this beef...and should concentrate on recruiting ten CBs or something. Also... how do we get to have 26 commits this year?
————
“Alabama has landed a Christmas Day commitment from an ex-Auburn commit.

“Four-star Texas offensive guard Jaeden Roberts, who decommitted from the Tigers Dec. 16, has committed to the Crimson Tide.

“....The 6-foot-5, 340-pound Roberts, a high school teammate of Alabama freshman offensive lineman Damieon George, is ranked as the 14th-best offensive guard in this recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings....”

.... seven recruits from Texas...

According to fans of other teams - it’s because we make up the rules as we go along and the NCAA won’t do anything to stop us.

But also because we only had 24 enroll last year.

Brockermeyer 5* OT has a major injury concern.

OP too hung up on the stars.

Hell look at Jayden Robinson for A&M film this year. Young 3 star recruit OG that is a freaking road grader. Will be a 2-3 year starter depending on how long he stays.

I love the "stars don't matter" crowd that bring up the one 3* superstar out of 100 and just ignore that a huge percentage of 5*s get drafted

As long as you have enough Dodge Chargers and bagmen than it’s no problem.

No.

Even though Georgia hasn’t produced a championship, they are getting championship caliber Oline. Bama too.

It’s not only the quality of player, but you need a lot because some 4 star oline don’t pan out.

You process them and get more next year. Saban is not afraid to do this. By doing it, he keeps culling fat from the roster but utilizing the 25 man limit combined with KEEPING talent before the draft.

Probably should aim for 4 every year since some will transfer out.

ETA. Ferguson may end up being bamas best oLine bet by year 4. Can play 4 positions on that line.

Saban has cracked the code on getting a man for every position. It looks like he’s got 26 and if the ncaa let’s him, so be it. It’s really up to other schools to observe and do it themselves.

Getting 25+ is the best way to keep GO5 schools from acting like they belong to the playoff so I’m cool with it. Note. I went to a GO5 school.

Imagine having to hear Cincinnati parrot the UCF babble from a few years ago.
