Can we talk about the job Jeremy Pruitt has done at turning around Tennessee this season?

To think about where Tenner was at the beginning of the season, everyone (including me) left them for dead and figured the team had quit on them. I know it's a lot more fun to talk about the top teams and for good reason, but I have been pretty impressed with them and him. Give the man a qb that can complete 60% of his passes and lookout. Feels a bit like Gerry Dinardo but without the blind loyalty to buddies. The SEC needs a good Tennessee team and he may be finally building them back to at least a competitive football team.

Needs a couple more recruiting classes and as you said a SEC type QB with a pulse. More time in the S&C program will help and already has...Last season by this time we were running out of gas in the 2nd half of games this time of year and this year that has not been a issue the past several games.

He does deserve some credit, that team could have easily quit after those first two games but he kept them in it and they are improving. That is commendable

It is amazing how things can change for a team in a matter of 4-5 weeks. Early congrats to Coach Pruitt and the Vol football players for hangin and believing! It appears that the best is yet to come for the Vol Nation.

Felt the same way for the Bama/Tenn game, I figured Tenn would roll over and quit. You could tell they weren't going to give up on the season. 1 more win and they go bowling. After week 2, I thought no chance.

Pruitt has this defense playing as well as any VOLS team has in the last decade or so. It’s pretty encouraging.

I honestly forgot what it feels like to have a staff that knows player development after Butch and Dooley

I would be quietly optimistic if I was a tenn fan. My favorite thing about this team is that he seems to be doing a really good job of building talent on both lines. Gonna be interesting to watch the next few years if they can start to challenge for the east again

The difference in the Oline from last year to this year is very apparent.

Even the Dline which I thought would be a weakness has done very well.

We’re getting there. I think it’s still gonna take a couple more recruiting classes though so he gets even more of his guys in there. And a bowl game this year will help recruiting also and those extra bowl practices will help the guys on the team as well. After the first 2 games I was pretty much off the Pruitt bandwagon but he’s pulled me back in. He still has some areas to improve in but you can tell that he’s growing as a head coach game by game. I’m cautiously optimistic

Yes, jbrau22, we can talk VOLS.

I give a lot of credit to the Sr. leaders on this team for making sure the younger guys didn’t quit. And of course to the staff for actually developing players and fixing glaring mistakes.

Tennessee still has a long way to go as a program (lol we’ve said this for 10 years) but it’s nice to see a physical defense instead of that baby soft shite we watched under Dooley and Lyle.

Still think this team finishes 6-6 (my personal prediction before the szn), but 6-6 after that awful start would be something to build on imo.

I think Tenn goes 7-5 they’ll beat Missouri and Vandy. Win a bowl game and they’ll be 8-5 after starting 1-5.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The players seem to love playing for him. He's got a great staff that actually is developing talent for once. And so far pretty much all of his recruits that are playing seem like they belong in the SEC. Not sure where we will end up in the final recruiting rankings, but I think the staff knows how to identify talent. I'm having a hard time identifying any real busts that he has personally signed in two recruiting cycles so far.

A competent QB moving forward will make everyone associated with the program look a lot smarter.

Still much to prove though.

I told you zero's. He really needs 2 more strong recruiting classes and will get them hell or high water.

There is some talent on that team...

Jennings and Callaway at WR are as good as anybody
I like their LBs: Taylor, Bituli and To'o To'o
They have a couple of young Olinemen that will be good
Pruitt will develop DBs

The question will be can they find a QB?

I wouldn't say people were calling for his head because we knew starting ANOTHER new coaching cycle would just make things worse, but moral was incredibly low after week 2. Rightfully so.

The national sports media brigade were pumping out silly conspiracies stories that Fulmer was going to insert himself as head coach. Once Fulmer publicly ridiculed and ended these ideas the turnaround and evolution of Pruitt as a head coach was on.

I'm not going to crown him yet as "the guy" as he still has far too much to prove, but the dude gets his guys to play hard and so far he has proven he knows how to identify real SEC talent. All the true freshman/RS freshman/sophomores that he has personally signed can play some ball. Just need a competent and consistent QB going forward and one or two more Pruitt recruiting cycles to get the program out of the wilderness.

Hopefully already have. Harrison Baily that is committed for next year is looking really nice.

Tenner’s 5-5 with losses to Ga. State and BYU, at home, and you’re talking about what a good job Pruitt’s doing.

Let that sink in.
