pre-1936 : none
1936 - 1997 : AP Title
1998 - 2013 : BCS Title
2014 - present : CFP title
Alabama - 9 (1961, 1964, 1965, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012)
Florida - 3 (1996, 2006, 2008)
LSU - 3 (1958, 2003, 2007)
Auburn - 2 (1957, 2010)
Tennessee - 2 (1951, 1998)
Georgia - 1 (1980)
Texas A&M - 1 (1939)
Since everyone always whines about how Alabama only has 4 or so I figure this is a method everyone can agree on, right?

Does it matter if its ap or not

Should probably only go with a year where a team gets awarded the majority of the national titles so they don't get credit for one when they were obviously not the best team that year.

Yes
Let it be written, let it be done
Let it be written, let it be done

Yes, with one amendment:
AP titles until BCS Era
BCS Champions until Playoff Era
"Playoff" Champions
AP titles until BCS Era
BCS Champions until Playoff Era
"Playoff" Champions

1936 - 1997 AP Title
1998 - 2013 BCS Title
2014 - present CFP title

AP is a vote so it is flawed since it is opinion, especially when they voted before all games were played.
I think any undefeated season should be recognized as a perfect season.
If a team was perfect, they earned something. When a team has to rely on voters to gain recognition, it is something less than perfection.
I hereby claim all undefeated seasons as championships.
So since 1992 in the SEC, Auburn has 3 championship seasons (1993,2004,2010), Bama has 2 (1992, 2009), Tennessee 1 (1998).

I was always under the impression from discussions with other fanbases that only AP/BCS/CFP titles mattered. At least that is what I always heard in relation to Alabama.

I am just because some one won the bcs doesn't mean they got the ap ala 2003

And I clearly wrote "YES LSU YOU CAN CLAIM 2003" before we changed it to AP/BCS/CFP.

Then of course there's 2011. The infamous 7 BCS Human Poll Voters who actually DROPPED Okla State to 5th or 6th AFTER they destroyed former #1 Oklahoma to win the Big 12 Title, thus ensuring the 3rd place SEC team would laughingly be placed in the MediaMulliganReplayDoOverBowl......
