I don't know if this is just a troll thread or if you were looking for legit responses, but more money is really the only answer. CFB is going to be 4 or 5 16 team conferences soon anyway, and Slive just wanted to get the jump. It isn't like either athletic program brings anything to the table that we didn't already have. It was all about money and taking the first step towards becoming a super conference.

Show of hands.
Would thinks this thread would of been started if the Shelties didn't beat Bama?

ETA: Didn't proof read and left words out

Because the folks in the SEC aren't very bright and were out-played by A&M and Mizzou, gaining themselves entry into the SEC so that we can siphon off all your $$$$$$$.

And for you more rational posters, yes, that was a stupid answer to a stupid question. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Eddie Lacy still has nightmares

Eddie Lacy has a couple of National Championship rings, while A&M has a 3rd place finish in the West.

I don't see what was so wrong about adding Texas A&M.

A&M was a good pickup...best pickup of any conference thus far and a good cultural fit in the SEC.

I agree. I think they were the crown jewel of the last expansion, and UNC is going to be the crown jewel of the next expansion(AND I HATE UNC)

When we added a&m/Mizzou, the SEC did not have the richest TV contract. Yes, we were rich, but we had been passed by the Big10 and Pac12.

In a few months, we will have the richest TV contact yet again.

I would say 2nd best. BIG did well by grabbing Nebraska.

Who were we going to take? FSU? Florida would have blocked it. Clemson? USCe would have blocked it? Take Georgia Tech back? UGA would have blocked it. We are probably going to end up adding 2 more anyway. Maybe OU and VaTech? You can only venture so far outside of the Southeast before it's no longer the SEC. Mizzou and aTm are pushing it. So would either of the Oklahoma schools and VaTech. The only possibilities that are still well within the borders of the South are UNC, Duke, and NC State.

I heard 11 of the 12 schools wanted to add Mizzou and A&M just to piss off Bama and their fans.

VaTech

not only do they not fit, they need to go to the Big 12 for the WVU rivalry. That was a very underrated rivalry.
