Yeah? We did the same thing from 07-08, then won the SEC 3 years later.

1982 Iron Bowl, Bo over the top, showed that we were going to compete with Alabama and be successful.

2001 #1 Nebraska went and got demolished at Colorado 62-36. An ugly arse kicking that Nebraska has never recovered from.

For A&M it would be the 1999 OU game in Norman. We were coming off back to back south division titles and a conference title in '98, came into the season ranked #5 I think and proceeded to get thumped by Stoops and Heupal in their coming out game. We went on to lose four games that year, OU took our spot a top the conference and we lost at least four games every year until 2012. Texas recovering under Mack just compounded the issue.

I do believe it's possible, but usually in a reverse way than you'd think.
If you LOSE a particular game, it may cost you a coach and that can change EVERYTHING. So, absolutely from that standpoint.
If you WIN a game you were supposed to lose, and it encourages the powers that be to KEEP a coach, then it can negatively affect you because he still may have "needed to be fired."
I think winning on a game to game basis only has the ability to affect the next game or two or three. Keep winning, and it can affect each game in a season. Look at Notre Dame last year for example....
Changing a program completely requires the keeping or firing of a coach imho. And one game has had this effect on many teams many times :)
BTW, Saban has more control than having won or lost that single Clemson game lolol.
*edit*
Keeping a coach or having one get fired can both either end up being a good OR a bad thing in said scenarios.

Only one of those losses was close (13-16 to Texas Tech on a phantom holding call). The others were 6-51 (Oklahoma), 0-37 (Nebraska), and 0-24 (raped by Sandusky)

Yeah, I was more talking about a game that can inspire a team to work hard or just totally flatten them. I think Tennessee was flattened after the Florida game this year. But I see what you're saying.

Arkansas vs. Texas 1969
In the end that game didn't lead to dominance for Texas but I think the Hogs program would be at a much higher level had we won.

Seriously though, the best example is the 01 SEC title game.

That was only 50 years ago, so it is understandable that y'all are still getting over it.

Yes, but we aren't still dwelling on missing out on a trophy from the Nixon administration.

LSU with Kevin Faulk beating UF in 1997 in Baton Rouge was pretty huge for the program.

We had less than 5 wins the next two years, but I agree.

Texas vs Bama in the National Championship. Totally wrecked the Longhorns.
