I'm with Trident. Texas has a real opportunity to win. Just as I wrote about Johnny's progression, Texas, as a team, has become much better as the season has worn on and their blue chip recruits are starting to play like it. Against Tech they looked like the flat-out plain and simple more talented team, which was a first for them this year. Granted, ISU isn't good, but Texas dogstomped them just like they should have. Again, starting to play up to who they really are in terms of talent.

you don't see a difference in his play during the past three games versus the beginning of the season?

I do see an improvement in J3's game the past 3 weeks. Kelin has had no slump and for the whole season has been money. J3 has had a couple down games. J3 should def. get an invite to NY just don't think he should win it this year.

We'd roll Florida right now. Johnny wasn't even throwing downfield in that game. Wasn't even trying to. He was raining long yards on Bama the other night. Players can progress as the season goes on... especially freshmen, and Johnny has grown a lot.

So would LSU. Players do progress, Klein and Barner have been performing at top level from the get go this year and Te'o as well. If we are going by the Heisman ideology, J3 is not the best football player during this season. Sustained greatness vs. a QB who is coming in to his own.

Manziel will be a heisman winner just not this year.

The BIg XII is not a strong conference and really lacks quality at the top. The lack of marquee wins and games really hurts Klein. Not to mention he's had some pretty mediocre games along the way.

Not to mention that he has 1,000 - ONE THOUSAND - fewer total yards than Johnny.

But has 2 more wins than Johnny. Wins > Stats.

BTW no freshman has ever won the award, and the only Soph. to win was Tebow. I think J3 will be the second if he doesn't slump next year.

He won't slump next year, but his rushing yards will go way down with the emergence of Brandon Williams.

There will be a ton of tape on him and he will be the focus point of ever SEC team you play from here till he leaves aTm. There are to many variables. How will the the new O-line perform, will the run game live up to expectations, will j3 progress or has he plateaued. Fans have to play the waiting game for J3 and the Heisman.

Yeah, man, fully aware. BTW, I don't think he'll win it. I think your reasoning is exactly the way the voters will see it.

As for me, as an admitted homer, I see a one guy with 1,000 more yards than the other guy and a signature win the other guy doesn't have.

He should win it.

He's the best SEC player since Cam, and will only get better.

I think he's better and more outstanding than Klein, and if he was on that team, they would be undefeated. I'm not so sure A&M only has two losses if Klein takes Johnny's place.

Can he win? doubtful. Should he win? Absolutely. He is the best player in CFB.

Fact: Just three have made it to New York as Heisman finalists.

FRESHMEN IN THE HEISMAN VOTE

Name, Finish, Year
Hershel Walker, 3rd, 1980*
Emmitt Smith, 9th, 1987
Marshall Faulk, 9th, 1991
Michael Vick, 3rd, 1999*
Adrian Peterson, 2nd, 2004*

* — Heisman finalist

I think he is about to join 3 other esteemed college players and will be the 4th freshman to travel to NY. I doubt he wins, but he'll have accomplished something very few have ever done.

He sealed a trip to New York for sure. A chance? Yes, he has a chance.

Exactly the reason that the numbers for Brandon Williams and Tra Carson will be key.

Also, A&M's defense will be MUCH improved next season, especially if Damonster stays.

His stats are better in every sense, and he did it in the SEC against some of the best defenses.

I still think it's doubtful he wins because one thing, he's a freshman.

They'll try to rationalize it, but it will still come down to not wanting to give it to a freshman.

Pretty crappy thinking IMO.

I imagine everyone is sick to death of 'Johnny Football' by now, but dang he is fun to watch.

He would get my vote. Wait, I take that back, maybe him or Klein. Def going to NYC imo.
