Can anyone explain why Harsin still has a job at the end of October?

Barn has been trying to fire this man for nearly 2 years at this point. Does his buyout drop some time later this season? Why hasn't Auburn done what everyone knows is coming?

This would be my guess.

New President who wants to apparently do everything painfully by the book coupled with - I suspect - trying to get a hire at AD who could bring booster factions together to support a coaching search/hire.

IF that's what's going on, I get the logic, but we could also wind up hiring a birthday party rent-a-clown in February and I wouldn't be surprised.

No AD right now. Interview process has seemed longer than expected. Hopefully they announce the new AD soon so we can move on.

AU doesn't want to mess up UCF's season, so they're waiting till the end of the regular season befo3 bring Gus home.

They want to avoid half the team jumping to the portal for immediate transfer. If they fire Harsin now, that can happen.

They will retain him through the year because they have to pay him anyway.

I would imagine that will be the next AD's first mission, firing Harsin and searching for a new Head ball coach..

Bryan Harsin Buyout Details
Harsin’s buyout structure is fairly simple at Auburn. If the school fires him without cause, it will owe him 70% of whatever remains on his deal. Half of that balance will hit Harsin’s bank account within 30 days of his dismissal, with the rest of it coming his way in equal installments each July for the next four years.

So what does that look like?

If Auburn fires Harsin at the end of this season, he will receive the following annual payments:

Jan. 2023: $7,490,000
July 2023: $1,872,500
July 2024: $1,872,500
July 2025: $1,872,500
July 2026: $1,872,500

TOTAL HARSIN BUYOUT: $14,980,000

They’re waiting to fire him right before the iron bowl so they’ll have an excuse in place

Pretty simple, they haven't found anyone with enough brain damage to be their AD.

He's hasn't been and they've lost 4 players the last 4 days. It's time to cut him loose.

Hey, hey, hey! Y’all leave Bryan alone. He is doing his thing.that program will get turned around when he weeds out those that don’t want to play but want the pay.
