Mildred talking about Pat Dye and his Cialis was one of the funniest calls ever. Here is another pure classic:
Mildred and Mike Price

I listened back in the day when I lived in Birmingham... when Vickers was his sidekick...callers like Shane from Centerpoint, I-Man and Tammy.

I questioned at the time whether these callers were real or "character" callers. Still do...but they made Finebaum a lot of money.

The Finebaum of the early 2000’s was must listen radio. Finebaum was no shill for Alabama either. He basically created the business model of pissing off Bama fans. The show was Twitter/SEC Rant before social media. The show lost a lot when it went to the SEC Network and Finebaum had to move to Charlotte.

Now the show is unlistenable. 20 years ago, listening to rednecks and idiots get trolled & upset was a novelty. Now all you have to do is go on any form of social media. It’s a joke that the show is effectively the face of the SEC Network. If you ever pay attention to what Finebaum says, you’ll realize that he really doesn’t know anything outside of a 20,000 foot view of college football politics. His hot takes are usually obvious and never really insightful. He just knows how to pretty them up.

The SEC will be better off when that clown is no longer associated with it.

I can't speak for all of them but Tammy was 100% real. I was friends with her on fb and she was just as entertaining on there as she was on the radio. Even went as far as posting a full blown topless pic of herself on fb and left it up for a set amount of time over a lost bet with a bammer. Hated to see when she passed away like she did

Finebaum is completely Jerry Springer. Everyone knows it except for him.

Are you familiar when it was on AM 960 or was it 690...either way he had a side kick named Neil Vickers who did news and weather in studio with Paul? I believe it came on after Rush Limbaugh in Bham...I've been listening to him, beginning with my father in the mid 90's and just continued on till today...of course there's long periods of time I might not tune in....still humorous to me. Growing up in Bham made it easier to tune in ...and knowing the majority of the personalities new and old makes it more tolerable than one would expect...it truly is a Circus sometime...Was actually listening the day Harvey Updyke made his Infamous call

Paul would pistol whip Neil many times for really no reason at all. I wondered why he put up with it. Plus, there were several times when Paul himself was extremely racist to African American callers. I often wonder if anyone has any of the old shows on tape because that would definitely bury him today.

They put him next to me in the press box when I covered Alabama and Auburn games several times. I used to like to chart the games myself, even though the SID departments gave you the play by play after each quarter. I remember him looking at what I was doing like it was Chinese Algebra. Back then, he knew virtually nothing about the game itself. He was just a pot stirrer. He still really has a limited knowledge of the sport. Sort of reminds you of the kid who was always chosen last on the playground and still had a chip on his shoulder.

He is a Tennessee homer, but when all is said and done he actually just worships the dollar bill.

I remember after games, he had a little group of reporters always with him and they would go off and then share what they obtained as quotes when they returned to the press box. I always laughed and went the other way.

In conclusion, I will say this: him being on the radio and on TV has actually made him a little bit of a better person because back in those days of Neil Vickers and prior to that, he was a total a-hole.

I don't understand why people still call in and ask his opinion about some minutiae of the game, when he clearly doesn’t know anything about it outside of the bureaucratic aspect.

All of her calls are available in YouTube. Hilarious stuff. I've always wondered who it really is.

The Finebaum radio show on JOX back before he went to ESPN was awesome. I miss those days. It

No it was not. It was shite back then too. No one wants to hear Shane from Centerpoint again (RIP) or him having Giggle Time with Barbara Dooley.

The callers on that show were so much funnier when it was a local Birmingham show and not a national show aired on an ESPN network.
