Because they are just like the moronic dawg fans on this board, they don't want to believe it happened, BUT IT frickING HAPPENED, accept it and move on.

It boggles the mind how many different directions they try to spin a coach turning them down.

Gran, on the record, has never said he was offered the full oc job. Today, he called it “the job”, once again skirting the details. Only one reason to do that.
Oh for frick’s sake. Now we’re up to the OC position on the grassy knoll. He was specifically asked about the offensive coordinator position, not “a position”. Why in the hell does this trigger you people? The story isn’t embarrassing. Your absurd denials are.

He has every reason to be ambiguous and play along in that manner. That way he personally isn’t spreading a load of bs. I understand why he does it, but this just reeks of desperation for some kind of football validation by the cat fans.

I could play a video recording of Kirby offering him the job and they still wouldn't believe it.
I almost feel sorry for them

What ambiguity? The question was how serious were his discussions about the offensive coordinator position. He said they offered the job. That isn’t ambiguity. There definitely is a smell of desperation around here but it ain’t coming from the Kentucky end of things. Y’all are bursting the seams on those britches. Maybe win another national championship in the next 40 years before you start looking down your perennially underperforming program’s nose at other schools.

BallsAndShaft, what is the story here?
Most people, myself included, have never heard of this Gran fella.
What happened?

I know. I heard all those UT players at the combine were cracking up about it.

Gran called Coach Smart and got an interview. He was offered a position coach job with a Co-OC title, just like we had last year with the QB coach. Gran then went back and got a small raise to stay at UK.
Everyone that lost to Georgia the last 2 years made a much bigger deal out of it than it was.
Gran would have been offered the same as he was making at UK, and he leveraged his talk with Smart to a whopping $50K raise, that he would have gotten in 2020 anyway.

You can go along with the ruse, without definitively lying, if you don’t personally say any specific details about the offer and let some other media guys set it up. Takes a lot of delusion to not see it because it’s so obvious. Gran and crew are playing the uk cats so well. Hook line and sinker.

The vols paid uga $500k to hire our
co-co and double his pay. Not long after he produced some terrible offenses at UT. Now that’s moronic.

But when Gran turned down this alleged “co-OC” gig, Kirby decided to promote the guy that was going to be co-OC with Gran to full OC? Well that makes perfect sense. “We’d feel a lot better if you split duties with that other guy but that other guy turned us down so we’re just going to put you in charge.”

you’ll find you really have no reason to have bruised pride in the first place.
Our pride wasn't bruised because he turned down a half-demotion to Co-OC at the same salary he had at UK.
But I'll bet his pride was bruised (just like Benny Snell was bruised) after that Georgia-UK game last season. 84 rushing yards? Snell had only 73?

It was the Next best option. Certainly Makes more sense than demoting the co-oc that Kirby wanted badly in Athens, which is what you have been led to believe. Thankfully, we got Todd Hartley in that tight end coach spot, as he is a recruiting machine.
Posted on 3/5/19 at 5:25 pm to OleManDixon
The "title" was to boost his ego over being kicked down to position coach. He wasn't even being offered a raise.
Posted on 3/5/19 at 5:34 pm to AlaCowboy
I give. Y’all win. Kirby certainly didn’t want him as OC and really didn’t even want him for a position coach. He truly wanted to offer him team laundry guy but realizing he wasn’t qualified found a way for Gran to bow out and save face. Pretty classy of him too. One would think a guy who’s been an OC for a decade and a RB coach for 25 years would at least merit a laundry guy gig but no dice.
