This is how I think the dust could settle when the BIG12(10) doesn't expand and finally dies ... This could be a possible layout of the conferences .... It's definitely NOT my ideal but I think with all that has happened in expansion and all the current loopholes ... this is the most realistic of scenarios ... that will probably never happen ... because whatever does happen it has to be something that makes the least amount of sense ... anyway ... ... I for one have never been pro expansion in the SEC unless it was an TA&M and UNC but here it is ....

Thoughts? Rants? Replies? Insults?

SEC

The ACC remains intact which limits SEC options eastward and all the Texas schools go west ... NO school in a current SEC state are adding a school in the same state expect OU ... OU and OKST won't split for OU to get in the BIG10 so they join the brethren in the SEC ... its not ideal but options are limited to 16 ... Oklahoma is college football blue blood and great in basketball ... they would fit in the SEC well ... OKST is a stinker school overall but so is Miss St ... but both have proven to have success in gridiron and hardwood

Missouri
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St

Texas A&M
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi St
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida

PAC

The PAC has limited options as well in the western states and truly covets Texas ... When the Big 12 folds Texas takes the little brothers out west to form a southwest quarter of the PAC ... This actually makes sense to me as a true western 16 team conference ... Texas Shorthorns does not really fit with the SEC or the BIG ... This makes for a formidable conference rival for the SEC in football..

Washington
Washington St
Oregon
Oregon St
California
Stanford
UCLA
USC
Arizona
Arizona St
Utah
Colorado
TCU
Baylor
Texas
Texas Tech

BIG

I personally hate the Big10 more than any other conference ... They fittingly get what they deserve .... Their AAU snobbery limits their canidates as well as the ACC becoming locked down (No UVA or UNC) ... Iowa St and Kansas are longtime rivals, are in the footprint, and are both AAU ... the only plus is they have great hoops ... their football is abysmal but so is everyone else's in the Big10 except Michigan and the CockEyes ...

Minnesota
Wisconsin
Illinois
Northwestern
Nebraska
Iowa
Iowa St
Kansas

Indiana
Purdue
Ohio St
Michigan
Michigan St
Penn St
Maryland
Rutgers

ACC

The ACC survives after all and wins big (I guess) with Notre Dame forced to become a full time member ... West Virginia beats out Cincy and UCONN as number 16 because they already have natural rivals in Pitt, Va Tech, Louisville, and really have solid hoops and football to bring to the table that outweighs the West Virginia stereotypes as a state ... honestly its the best fit ... and it brings the conference together after Maryland left to bridge the North and South regions that the conference covers ...

Notre Dame
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
Boston College
Louisville
West Virginia
Virginia
Virginia Tech
North Carolina
NC State
Duke
Wake Forest
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida St
Miami (FL)

MWC/AAC MERGER

I honestly have no idea what happens to the other teams outside the Power 64 teams .... but something tells me 64 totally breaking off from the current 128 or what ever it is won't happen ... Several MWC and AAC teams have proven to provide great football theater and success ... honestly several of their programs are light years ahead of even some P64 teams in football perception (Boise St > Purdue, BYU > Kansas, Cincinnati > Wake Forest to name a few) ... also both have legitimate basketball contenders (San Diego St, New Mexico, Memphis, UCONN) ... I think a merger could definitely benefit them and their status as a power conference together rather than apart ... (this scenario leaves out Wyoming and San Jose St but no one is crying over those)

Nevada
Fresno St
San Diego St
UNLV
Hawaii
New Mexico

Boise St
BYU
Utah St
Air Force
Colorado St
Kansas St

Tulsa
SMU
Houston
Tulane
Memphis
Cincinnati

UCONN
Temple
Navy
ECU
UCF
USF

It still provides CFB with a P5 Conferences which I think helps a 4 team or 8 team Playoff ... It gives more balance in the scheduling of non conference opponents ... and if some of these teams show greater success could eventually lead to the formation of 4 18 or 20 team super conferences in the future ... because in America we only get bigger

Those are some enormous geographic footprints you're creating there. I wonder if that could cause budgetary problems in non-revenue sports...

I have a hard time believing the leftist west coast schools are going to add 2 christian schools to their conference. But I'm glad you wasted all that time posting that.

No expansion. It would be a bunch of trading if I had say so.

Alabama
LSU
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee
Florida State
Miami
GT
Sourh Carolina
Clemson
North Carolina
VT
MIss State
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Auburn

My 16.

Virginia and NC state would make sense but they just dont have what others can offer. Arkansas, Texas, and Missouri aren't south east. They're Midwest states

If they feel like it is going to benefit their conference then they wouldn't care one bit about their religious affiliation

SEC

SEC West
Arkansas
Texas A&M
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi St
Alabama
Auburn
Mizzou

SEC East
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
North Carolina
Duke

I could give frick all about any other conference, but I'll tell you the Pac will never take Baylor and TCU. They won't take a school with a religious affiliation, even a loose one like TCU, and most certainly not a close one like Baylor.

Get rid of Mizzou and your list is pretty good.

The PAC-12 isn't taking a private, religiously affiliated school.

The B1G isn't taking Iowa's little brother, Iowa State adds literally nothing to the conference.

The SEC isn't taking two Oklahoma schools. We already have two Mississippi schools, why double down on another depressing state?

I think you are spot on with the ACC though. They might not like WVU's academics, but it's an extremely logical addition otherwise.

At least we wouldn't have to share a conference with the awful state of Florida any longer.

Don't be mad.

The State of Florida has no State income tax. Do you know why?

You need a map if you think Texas is in the Midwest

So you think BYU is going to be added to the Pac-12? Makes way more sense than Baylor or TCU.
