And those that come after at what the people who came before built. Were they Gods, Demons, Giants...or just drunk?

if there is a cathedral of college football, it's in south bend Indiana.

You know there can be more than one cathedral? For instance, there are more than 3,000 Catholic cathedrals/co-cathedrals in the world today. The Holy See in Rome being the largest and most important. Bryant-Denny Stadium is obviously an arch-cathedral of college football while Notre Dame Stadium would be the "Holy See" of college football.

You could include them and a couple of others sure. I was just doing a top 5 thing.

After the 5 I listed, I'd include Ohio State, Texas, and Nebraska. Pre-Sandusky I'd have included Penn State too. Still could, I guess.

ETA: Oh yeah, and Tennessee.

BDS is the nicest stadium in CFB and nicer than many NFL stadiums.

Yes. I am afraid so. Being a cathedral does not mean you have to have the nicest or the biggest - Notre Dame can tell you that. What makes a football stadium a cathedral is the level of prestige the program has. Alabama is without a doubt the most storied program in the history of the SEC, as well as one of the most storied programs in the history of college football.

These facts alone make Bryant-Denny Stadium a cathedral of college football.

What does it look like today bitch
BDS was a dump and ugly as frick until 2005. I've always thought it was weird how the sideline seats are so far away from the field.

It's been interesting watching the facilities race since the '80's. Back then, our stadiums weren't much smaller then Bryant-Denny and some others that dwarf them today, but I guess our lengthy refusal to have a scholarship lottery cost us.

Our fans consider War Memorial a dump, but it was bowled in long before BDS and only held 6,000 less in the late-eighties. I still find it strange to see some expanded SEC stadiums, because I still think of them as much smaller then they are today.
