What are you saying? You need to stop going back to when the NIL and the transfer rule change wasn't set up yet. That is why Missouri is on an upswing in football and basketball. The NIL and transfer rule change saved Drinkwitz from getting fired and he was able to get some really good players. The same can be said for basketball.

At least he is young and innovative enough to change this….
Hey, wait a minute

BK has two road wins better than any on Drink’s resume.

He sucks. He isn't getting fired. LSU fans will have to get used to be an also ran.
He's actually a good coach and a good CEO who brings stability. He beats the teams he's supposed to beat, but problem is that he doesn't really beat teams who have just as much if not more talent than his team. His record against top 25 teams isn't great. That was his issue at Cincinnati and ND. He'll go 9-3 every year and LSU will be a top 15-ish team, but he won't win a Natty. He's a better version of James Franklin.

Don't talk about Franklin being available for LSU to take when Kelly is gone at LSU. That would be a steal if Franklin really wanted the job there.

And here are the road wins of the most sought after coach right now, Lane Kiffin, in same time period:
2022
@ GA Tech 5-7
@ Vanderbilt 5-7
@ A&M 5-7
2023
@ Tulane 11-3
@ Auburn 6-7
@ MS State 5-7
2024
@ Wake Forest 4-8
@ USCe 9-4
@ Arkansas 7-6
2025
@ Kentucky 2-4
Not all that different from Brian Kelly.

How can someone think James Franklin is a good coach and BK is a bad one?

You don't get it! NIL and transport rule change made the difference. He was close to getting fired. Then NIL and transport rule change plus hiring and OC saved him big time. Don't forget LSU were laughing at Mizzou fans for taking Missouri DC and DL coach and said Missouri will suck. The team did lose a game more the following year. But LSU ended up losing 4 games that same year after taking those "key" coaches.

Yet arguably his best conference road win was in 2022.

I think that a lot of people forget how much of a mess Kelly inherited. He has done a good job of fixing the culture. The foundation is now solid, and Kelly just needs a few more years to implement his system and get more players into the program who fit his system. Rome wasn't built in a day. LSU fans just need to be patient.
Brian Kelly is the one who set these expectations, not LSU fans.

Who would LSU fans rather have for their coach between those two guys?

Kiffin has coached over 150 games and has a total of 2 top10 wins in that time.
If people want him that's fine, but he needs to cook a little longer for my tastes.

Kiffin is the better choice because he's maturing and improving still. He's a young guy with a good offensive mind.
Kelly is basically you get what you see and that's most likely the best it's going to be. Nothing's impossible, but it would be shocking to see him break his normal pattern.
But they aren't getting rid of Kelly.

I'd rather Lane, just because of age and he gets buy in from the players better IMO.
If he can have the same success through the portal at LSU as he has at Ole Miss, on top of LSU's in state recruiting, they'd be in a good spot.

Asking LSU fans to be patient with a coach is like asking an addict to quit drugs cold turkey.

So you decided that. What was his team record for that season? That wasn't impressive. Like I said he is getting better and better. This year Drinkwitz's team lost to Alabama at home by 3 points and that team had a chance to tie the game or win it at the end. That is a huge improvement from what his team did in the past against Alabama. That is why I said he has been making progress. What have Kelly done to make progress so far this year from last year? I do not believe he will win a championship anywhere as a HC. I am happy to have him get Mizzou to make the playoff in most years from now on. Kiffin has a much better chance to make the playoffs and win a championship than Drinkwitz.

The argument being made by Preston Guy is that Brian Kelly sucks because he doesn't beat good SEC teams on the road, but he has the best SEC road win on his resume of Kelly, Kiffin, and Drink in the same time period.
It's a flawed argument is all that we are saying.
