So what? You almost had Bama in 2012

And you DID have Bama in 2012! Want some more?

Obviously. Bama was the only team that was.

Obviously NOT, because the true National Championship game was played in Atlanta. Bama/Georgia. Which game do you think most fans enjoyed more? Well, actually I enjoyed watching Alabama kick the living daylights out of Notre Dame.

Good hard-fought game between two really good teams,

I'm confused. Who were the two really good teams?

I remember that. Had some really good games. A lot of fun to watch! No way ND would renew that series. Wouldn't want to lose that game with navy...or Temple...or Purdue....or Air Force...or BYU...or Pittsburgh....because EVERYBODY wants to see those teams play! Who would want to see LSU hang 50 points on ND?

And you base this on what? Georgia wouldn't have had to perform like Bama did as long as ND performed like ND did last year!

I hate to tell you this...but Saban is incredibly good with a SMALL amount of time! I'm sorry. Is this your way of saying that Brian Kelly is incredibly BAD in a large amount of time?

ND would have finished 6th in the SEC. Georgia, Florida, A&M, SouCar ALL would have beaten you.....and we know what Alabama did.

You act as if Alabama had 5 weeks to prepare and ND did not. Did you guys play right up until game time, so you didn't have a s long to prepare, or is this just regurgitating the latest ND excuses about why you got smoked?

You have the last four posts and five of the last six. Pace yourself... I'll get to many of your points, but certainly not all (especially because many repeat themselves).

quote:

So, tell us, oh wise one...why did Notre Dame decide to join the ACC? For the prestige?

We're not a member of the ACC in football. We're an independent. We're only a member of the ACC in other sports (basketball, the only big college sport besides football, is much better in the ACC than the SEC. The ACC also fits ND much better geographically and academically).

quote:

Classic argument when it comes to schedules: Promote the worst teams a team plays (BTW, if BYU is one of the worst teams you play, your schedule's pretty solid) and don't promote the best teams they play.

Well, duh, he's the best coach in America. But he's in a different world when he has lots of time. All you have to do is compare how his team did in their two games on Nov. 5, 2011 and on Jan. 9, 2012.

This is the main point that I find funny. The SEC Champion is obliterated by Bama in the national championship one year and it's "Alabama's so dominant!" or "It's only because Lee didn't play!" (excuses). Bama obliterates another team in the same game the next year and it's "Notre Dame, despite going undefeated in the regular season against a schedule ranked tougher than most SEC schedules, would be under .500 in the SEC!" The fact most SEC fans can't see the hypocrisy is amusing.

Listen to what Barrett Jones said about ND after the game. It wasn't "they weren't as big or as strong or as talented" (note: I'm not saying we were, before you lose your mind). It was "Notre Dame's a good team, but we had a lot of time to watch them on film and basically knew how to attack them to achieve results".

Please tell me at all where I've given an excuse about that game. Alabama, in a national championship setting, is a much better team than ND is in a national championship setting. That's it. There are no excuses. It was a 28-point game. Nowhere have I said crap about Manti's GF or anything of that sort having an impact on the game.

The only point I'm making is it means nothing for an ND-UGA matchup or any other game.

Regardless, I think it's funny this whole argument got started because the OP said BK "called out" UGA when he didn't do anything close to that at all.

Then why must you play 5 ACC games a year? I mean, if you guys want to play Georgia so bad....

Ok. I clicked on your link, and I didn't see BYU in the top 25.

Seriously? You are comparing Alabama beating LSU 21-0 to Alabama beating Notre Dame 42-14? The Notre Dame score was 28-0 at the half. They could have put up 60 on you if they had wanted to. You were outmanned and outclassed. Every team I named being better than Notre Dame played Alabama better than you y'all did. MUCH better.

I think it was the part about Saban's having so much time to prepare.

(Sorry about posting so much so quickly....I just got up this morning and wanted to catch up)

Your profile name is Buckeye Fan but your a ND fan?

Comparing the LSU/Bama NCG game and ND's thrashing is terrible.

ND did not play one solid team other than Stanford and they weren't that great either.

So UGA wouldn't have been able to prepare for ND's powerhouse offense like Bama did?

Delusional

Agreed. Question, though. From a Notre Dame perspective...why do you think he called out Georgia, when you just played Alabama, and have a history with them. You have a history of playing LSU...so, why do you guys think Georgia would be a "natural"?

I won't lie to you...and I am sure you have seen my many references...I hate Notre Dame football. I think they are routinely overrated by the media and sportscasters and bowl reps. However, you seem to be reasonable and a good guy. Thanks for coming in.

I mean, we have a "history", but it's not big. No ND fan I know considers LSU a rivalry or historical opponent at all. Alabama maybe slightly because we've had some big games, but again, they're probably not even top-10 on ND historically significant opponents.

I think this is probably one of those cases where people are just looking too much into his word choice and seeing more than what's there. He probably meant he would like to play UGA, not it was a "rivalry". I believe it was a radio interview and "natural" probably just came to mind, even though it wasn't the right word choice. We only have three players from the state, and two of them (Stephon Tuitt and T.J. Jones) are two of our best players (the third's too young to judge at this point). I don't think BK has anything for or against UGA specifically, he just probably would like to get a little more of a connection to the state of Georgia.

ETA: If you follow ND, you're aware BK's had some mishaps with the media and word choice.

What does living in Stone Mountain have to do with UGA football being relevant? As an LSU grad in the perimeter area, please enlighten me when UGA football has won a meaningful game. I would say 05 sec champ vs LSU but then you embarrassed the sec in the Ga dome. Move to the ACC where Ga belongs.

Actually Notre Dame has recruited here a lot over the years, and some of your best players historically have come from Georgia. Ross Browner is the first to come to mind. You are too young to remember him, he was a hoss! Look him up on Wikipedia. He did well at ND and did very well in the NFL.

LSU has won more national titles in the past 10 years than Ugay has in it's entire history. Fact

Oh please. I was born in Baton Rouge and lived there as an adult for another 3 1/2 years and I can say without hesitation, that Baton Rouge AND Louisiana are good places to be FROM.
