When the players tested positive, the game was far enough away that they'd have been cleared to play by gameday. The team also has walk-ons who can play. And their roster management issues with opt-outs and/or transfers shouldn't be an excuse. State was playing with around 45 players most of last season. This is weak

I agree. Play the damn game, even if it's walkons and you are guaranteed to lose, at least show up and play the damn thing. In a week's time, maybe Wake's got 25 players out with covid too.

What does that say to all your 2nd/3rd string guys and walkons who work every bit as hard as the starters do, day in and day out, to spit in their face and say "yall suck too bad, we're not even gonna play the game, we're going to forfeit"

Pathetic.

Maybe.
I don’t know the inner workings of the program; just passing along the info.

What about Bama? Breaking news in Bham a few minutes ago said two of Sabans assistants tested positive this morning.

Bill O'Brien and Doug Marrone tested positive. Alabama expects to have them back for the Cotton Bowl/Semi-Final.

The point is that all sports are starting to come apart at the seams due to covid which may impact the CFP.

Postponed...as in rescheduled to December 12th. Ole Miss was unable to play on December 12th, resulting in the game being cancelled, therefore Ole Miss forfeited.

So both of you couldn't play the games when they were scheduled to be played, but Ole Miss takes the forfeit. Makes sense

Well, the NCAA COVID guidance says a negative test within 3-5 days of exposure releases you from quarantine. A positive test requires 10 days in quarantine. If they're reporting this morning, these positive tests ocurred yesterday or prior, which is outside that 10 day window even if all these guys who are unavailable tested positive and aren't just "out" due to contact tracing. The real reason is they don't want to be out of practice and then play a game, where they're already down 2 QBs and a bunch of opt-outs

I fully expect the CFP to be postponed with what has been going on around the country the past week or two

Could be.
Again, I don’t have a clue.
Just disappointed, that’s all.

Just as well. With all the opt outs it probably just saved A&M and Jimbo another embarrassing loss.

Initial exposure December 18th.

You don't do math very well.

Initial exposure December 18th. 18 + 3 = 21.

If the positive tests occurred yesterday, that's December 21st.

21 + 10 = 31, the day of the game. The EARLIEST they could have been cleared was after the game was already over.

Can they upgrade us from Liberty bowl to the Gator bowl?

Liberty can take some 5-7 team like Texas
