This is why many of us were "keeping it real" after hearing about Person. We know the hammer can drop at any time on us as well. Hell, on anyone's team.

So he did the same thing as Person, but without passing his crumbs on to player's families (at least not on tape).
Yep, and if my understanding of the charges against Person are correct that alone is what kept him from getting charged too. Unless I missed something, to get charged Person had to take a bribe and then do something to put Auburn at risk for financial loss - which happened when he paid the players and jeopardized the AU basketball program's NCAA compliance.
HOPEFULLY the FBI went through the Sexton family finances with a fine toothed comb and can say for sure they weren't paid. If that is the case, we should be OK with the NCAA.

Bama always tries to top us. You win again.

Alabama went with the just the tip strategy.
Auburn humped that puppy all night long.

what if this was football Bama and auburn admins/coaches working together to cheat. What would the reaction be?

Well, we sure as hell wouldn't be getting caught.

If a high ranking Administrator is involved , does lack of institutional control come into play? Titles mean everything .

Exactly. The federal fraud statute Person was charged under requires as an element of the crime that Person committed fraud against Auburn University. He is not charged with fraud against the player. The crime is fraud against the university since he is a public employee. While employed by Auburn he accepted a bribe that personally benefited himself while at the same time harming AU (due to the NCAA violations and ineligibility of its athletes).
If this Bama official actually paid Sexton or his family, he will definitely be charged. If he is never charged, that tells you he either did not commit NCAA violations, or the FBI does not think they can prove it (which means the NCAA has zero chance of proving it).
If he did not violate NCAA rules he could still be charged with being a public employee using his public position for personal gain, but that would not be the same crime of fraud Persons is charged with.

PearlJam is correct. This came from an internal investigation which was in response to the FBI sting.
Greg Byrne just gave the FBI Kobie Baker's head on a silver platter. They hadn't even opened the book on him yet. It will be a couple of years before we know the true depth of this, I think.

You mean the high ranking admin we hired directly from the NCAA compliance department? You tell me....how does the NCAA accuse a university of LOIC due to the transgressions of a man who worked for their own compliance department 2 years ago?

It's a good question. This wasn't some rogue coach, it was a rogue suit.

Who would have thought cheating is what would bring us together?
Everybody? Everybody thought that? Yea that makes sense.
